Well I think its finally that time.... This one had a good 11 year run but my car is cutting out and going really lean sometimes(sporadically) at wide open throttle and high rpms. New opti, wires, icm, ignition switch, coil, the whole works... Haven't tested my fuel pressure but I can't think of anything else it could be. So my question is, what is a good fuel pump for our cars??

 

Can't go wrong with the Walbro pump. Racetronix sells it with a nice installation kit for our cars for a true bolt in installation.

 

Where can I get the Walbro?? Tbyrne or Thunder Racing?

 

You shot gun the entire ignition system. Then you come to the conclusion that it's the fuel system. Someone tells you what to buy and where to buy it and you still ask where to buy it. On top of all that, you never even test the pressure which is what you should have done in the first place.

I noticed you go to school at Texas State, must not be an economics major.

I would highly recommend checking your fuel pressure before undertaking a pump replacement. (Unless you just want to in preperation for future mods.) 1st change your fuel filter if you haven't already. You can buy a fuel pressure gage at autozone fairly cheaply and hook it onto the schrader valve on the fuel rail.

 

I was thinking about doing it in prep for the future like you said... What horsepower does or stock pump take us too?? I'm at about 400 rear wheel right now and i have been told that I am pushing it with our stock fuel setups... Any ideas?

 

I got the Racetronix fuel pump from Thunder Racing for 160.00. Plus they had a sale going on at the time so I saved a few extra bucks as well.

 

400RWHP is probably overtaxing the stock pump, especially an 11 year old one. As mentioned above, everyone seems to like the racetronix setup.

 

i bought a walbro one from ebay 99 dollars

 

I also got the ebay pump. Very easy install. All you have to do with a regular pump is modify the bucket a litte, although some guys get rid of the bucket. I did not want to do that so I shaved the ridges on the inside of the bucket a little bit so that the pump would sit straight up and not tip. Then glue the top of the bucket back on.

It was easy enough to me where I would have been upset to spend 60 bucks more just to avoid that work.

 

Go thru Walbro's site, google it.
Walbro sells go stuff. I believe their pumps are in the new Ford SVT stuff.
I advise on buying the 255 lph in tank for just over $100. Supports good hp. Contact them.

Edit: so I can make this helpful too- I got my pump from racetronix, I did have to do a little modification to the stock bucket that the pump fits in, otherwise it was pretty straightforward.
