Disappointed with PCMFORLESS
Re: Disappointed with PCMFORLESS
Meh...I like doing business with Ion. He's a great guy and I'll continue to use him as my tuner, as he has always done my stuff in a timely fashion and the results are always great. Plus, he always answers his calls.
Re: Disappointed with PCMFORLESS
Diego,
I guess I might as well reply here.
I helped you out COUNTLESS times when you asked me to "try this" and "try that" I looked over many logs that you sent me, tried things from open loop idle tunes, to BLM locked tunes, etc... I threw everything but the kitchen sink at the car. At some point with some cars you just have to be with them to put your finger on what is wrong with the car. I took your call every time you called, including the countless ones after my hours. (granted I understand you are on the west coast and there is a 3 hour difference). I answered emails within a day or two, even when you would email back 2 or 3 times before I had a chance to respond to your first email. I get over 100 emails a day, and emails with logs take a bit of time to look at. I even helped you know what to look for on the dyno and made adjustments based on it. You car runs good for you, but has a BLM split at idle.... Welcome to the cammed LT1 world. Your split is worse than normal, but there also seems to be issues with some O2 voltages dropping.
I answer the phones more reliably than anyone in this business. I am also pretty prompt with emails (typically 2 days or less). Log files do set me back sometimes up to a week as I dedicate one late night or weekend day to doing log files when the phone will not be ringing as a phone call will disturb my train of though on a log file.
I think the positive feedback from everyone else here who has dealt with us shows the effort Alvin and I put into this to try to make everyone happy with their purchase. But, I guess in this case I could not do it. I guess I could not jump thru every hoop I needed to to make your $75 email tune purchase a full blown dyno tune thru the countless emails and phone calls I helped you with. I guess sometimes if you want a dyno tune there may be only one way to do it
I will do everything I can to get the cars 100%, but sometimes you just have to be with it to get it from 95% to 100%

Re: Disappointed with PCMFORLESS
This is why I've always been leary of mail-order tunes. They are a great starting point, but they are NOT anything close to putting a car on rollers and tuning it under a load with the tuner right there next to the car checking and tuning as things are running.
I don't know about the experience, but to me, it seems like both sides need to take a step back and take a deep breath and resolve their differences.
And for $75 don't expect the world, that'll get you a close baseline, but there is still a lot of work that can be done; Heck, I personally know the tuner who's going to do the tune on my AI TFR/VRE 396 motor, and he's cutting me a deal.. I'm looking at $300-$500 and about 1-2 days worth of dyno time.

Re: Disappointed with PCMFORLESS
I know how you feel but I also know how hard it must be to tune a car that's not in front of you. I got upset with my last tune and when he told me I may have mechanical problems I didnt want to believe it. Turns out I was have a lot of mechanicle problems from a POS motor I bought from a scammer. Now that I have a new motor and a great new mechanic things are better and with that I decided to let Brian do my new tune. So far all is well. Once I get my wideband and or hit the dyno after this break in period he should be able to dial it in.

Re: Disappointed with PCMFORLESS
Bryan's busy, no doubt, but hey, when you do great things, it's expected.
He was dead on with my 224/230 tune, and I've come to him again for my LE2 tune.. if I lived closer you could be damn sure I'd have him dyno-tune it for me.
He was out of town the past couple days but this morning finished up my tune and is overnighting my PCM for me to have it by tomorrow. Can't ask for more than that. Even after I pestered him with a few phone calls

Re: Disappointed with PCMFORLESS
I am astounded to hear that you are not satisfied with PCM for less.
Bryan has been good to me. I have always received prompt, courteous, and sage advise in response to all of my queries.
When I get the final flow numbers from the porter and the spec from the custom grind cam that will match my combo I am going to him for my tune!
Mike

Re: Disappointed with PCMFORLESS
This thread appears to be going nowhere, and unless someone has something specific to say about the cause and effect of the problem, it needs to be closed.
I wouldn't know how to answer it.... the openiong post indicates the problem with the O2 readnigs moved with the sensor. My immediate thought was "can't be the tune".... but then I can't look at the car or the program. My simple mind can't comprehend how a problem that moves with the sensor can not be due to the sensor.
I also notice people seeming to badmouth Alvin for spendnig time "defending" not spending as much time trying to solve Deenasty's problem. Do these people realize that Alvin does programming on some systems and Bryan does others, and they don't even live in the same state. If Bryan tuned it, only Bryan can help sort out the problems.
Again, if you want to help solve the tech problems, post up. But if all you want to do is fan the flames and give endorsements, either pro or con for the people involved, the thread will be closed.

Re: Disappointed with PCMFORLESS
Fred, some people on this thread have seemed to help, but others are just speaking out a hole we like to call, their ***. Bryan, I appreciate you comming on here and speaking your side of the story. I was/am just very annoyed/upset at the way you treated me after calling you yesterday. You rushed me off the phone, when you could of said "hey im busy right now, shoot me an e-mail, or call me back". Not "i dont know the car aint here" goodbye.
This is the way I feel, and by no means am I bashing their work, its the way I was treated. Fred its your call, I have made my point. Feel free to lock it. Thank You.

Re: Disappointed with PCMFORLESS
Your problem is obviously not a "technical" one, but more along the lines of hard feelings.
You have made your point. This is getting closed. Sort of disappointing you chose to use the tech forum in this manner. It is not the purpose of the forum, and you have abused it.
