Dart re-stocked a few weeks ago and a fresh set of bare Pro1 LT1 heads are now at Ai by way of a small unknown engine builder in Southern Maryland.

It's nice to have more variety of cylinder head choice for our outdated LT1. It's good to see Bret looking at the Darts. I remember Bret I asked your opinion of the display Dart Pro1 LT1 heads at PRI last year and you liked them.

I think the heads will be more readily available in the future. Phil at Ai is going to port my doner set and the plan is to test them on an ERE-383 LT1 short block (many months in the future). Plan subject to change at a moments notice (linked to my non-existent R&D fund).

If these flow 310 with the minor work, how well could a set of fully ported Darts make theoretically/estimate?

Has anyone tried these out yet? I see that they are selling them but I can't find anything where anyone has used them? Anyone got a chance to play w/ them yet? Any problems?

I put a set, (fully assembled out of the box LT1 180cc Dart Pro 1), on a 350LT1 in a CapRice 9C1 car with GM 846 cam. The car ran high 12's with ported iron heads. With the Dart LT1's the car ran high 12's, (no change in mph or ET....I would state the mph but don't remember the number).

That's the only test I have and it is very inconclusive. But the results seem to be "expected". (I was hoping for better times but the iron heads must have been well ported).

There are some minor problems with the heads. An accessory bolt hole may or may not pass right into the oil side of the head. Just need to make sure a bolt is in that hole or oil will pour out. I have that problem on 2 out of 4 heads. Also, the hole drilled and tapped for the steam line may or may not be "finished". I had one head where they did not run the tap far enough and so the banjo bolt or whatever it's called was not able to thread in all the way...I had to shorten the banjo bolt...(you cannot run a tap in there deep enough because the end of the tap hits an internal water jacket casting)

I have another set of the assembled (out-of-the-box) Dart LT1 heads on a 383 and that motor will go in one of my heavy Impala SS cars soon. If I see mid to low 12's that will be on par with stock LT4 heads. If I see high 11's that wil be on par with well ported GM LT1 or LT4 heads. oh--whatever. The test will be fun.

Ai got their bare heads from me today and Phil mentioned a few things he liked and did not like. More like than dislike. Maybe he can post up his opinion in a few days.

I wasn't MINOR work... in fact I don't think that many other guys can get this type of wind out of the head.

All I can say now is that these things are EVIL when done correctly for a standard port 23° head with a small valve and bore. I haven't seen a 23° LT1 head other than Dennis @ AFD do better and his was a raised runner All Pro.

Steve, if you think the 310@.600" w/ 2.055" was good you would think I was a liar if I told you what they move now!

wow. Bret, it looks like these heads have potential to say the least. Good work squeezing that out of them.

I have a flow sheet to show from a freshly flowed set of Dart LT1's courtesy of Phil at Advanced Induction. I had a bare set of heads drop shipped to Ai. Phil told me the "as delivered" bare head came with a valve job and some bowl work from Dart. (my out-of-the-box assembled sets had factory bowl work also). Phil put some 2.02" and 1.60" Ferrea 6000 valves on them and with a Super Flow 600 bench on a 4.030" bore @ 28" H2O the heads peak at 263.9cfm at .600" lift intake (average for the entire head).
Linkie to Flow Chart from Ai on Dart LT1 (180cc)

The intake runner was 189.8cc and not 180cc.

I'll let Phil give his opinion but I take it that the heads are a pretty OK head with as much potential as any of the other aftermarket heads.

I think that the flow sheet is good info for the CamaroZ28.com community.

I believe they are 6-700 per head assembled, and about 500 each bare.

I'll have to check but normally Dart's pricing should be in line with the SBC Pro 1 aluminum stuff.
