Coated or Uncoated Headers?

If you were going to get headers that you only thought you were going to run for a year or 2, would you go with Coated or Painted headers?

I want headers to increase current performance goals, but in the future when money is better I am planning on a turbo setup. I am thinking of just going cheep on the exhaust now to get me through, then upgrade later...

If you are going to replace them in the future, the it would make sense just to repaint them with a good quality header paint and save on the coating.

Get them coated. Make a bit more power, due to increased scavenging, and keeps underhood temps a bit lower, protecting wires and reducing heat soak. Even if you plan to replace the headers in a year or two, you will be able to sell them for a lot more if they are coated.

Yeah, either get them coated so you won't lose as much money or don't get them at all and save it for the turbo setup. Spending 500+ on headers and other parts required seems a little costly if you're just going to get rid of it all later.

Re: Coated or Uncoated Headers?

With the sale on Pacesetters right now in the venders section, the price would be good for getting them cheep, but there is ~100 diference between coated and painted, plus I can do the rest of the exhaust myself cheeper then 400 total if I got the coated, and 300 for the painted. So, I thought for $300, I can get a big HP gain from headers now...

But, as always Injuneer makes some good points so it might be worth getting the coated...

Thanks for the insight guys...

Re: Coated or Uncoated Headers?

I'd never consider having a set of uncoated headers.

I agree with him aswell, get the coated headers you can make more on them when you sell them than on the uncoated headers.

Get the coated headers for all of the reasons listed.

Painted headers quickly look like ***!
