cam/spring break-in procedure?
Just did a cam/rocker/spring/pushrod/lifter swap and wanted to double check if there is a special procedure for breaking them in. (besides the obvious oil change after the initial startup, a few heat cycles, etc)
I should be able to get the car running tomorrow and would really like to get some new times on Saturday. Am I pushing it?

Start it up and let it run at ~2,000rpm until fully warm. Obviously, watch out for any leakag, funny smells or smoking and keep an eye on the ol pressure. Anything seems odd, shut it down and investigate. Otherwise, let it cool and check it over completely for anything amiss. Check the oil and coolant levels.
If it's all good, go for a ride. Don't beat on it, just drive for 20-30 miles or so. Change the oil, look everything over and then you are ready to drive it like you stole it!

Addendm: I am asuming you have an HR cam. If it's a solid, you shold obviously check the valve lash. For a hydraulic cam, some people would still say to check the rocker preload, but if you are sure you did it rigt the first time and don't hear any odd noises, I wouldn't bother. YMMV.
