Cams with the same lift & duration at one lift commonly have different durations at another. Different lobe profiles. A competent cam guru can grind a cam with what seems to be nearly the same as say a CC503, but because of the different lobe profiles may perform quite a bit different than a cam with nearly identical .050" #'s.
That rate of lift & valve closing is as important as the rest of the #'s

What 31coupe said is true. You can make a cam work better in different RPM ranges with different lobes.

both cams have .339 int. .352 ex.

 

The GM 846 is better then.
