Like everyone has been trying to tell you this is not correct. LS1 brakes are in no way shape or form are related to the dual piston PBR 88-96 C4 brakes. The caliper is different, the rotor is different, its all different. If you still don't believe me look up the pads for each application in a Summit catalog and you'll see they use different part numbers.

LS1 brakes have 11.8" rotors and a caliper that appears to be extremely similar to the C5 caliper. The difference (as you have noted numerous times) is the C5 caliper (made by PBR) is pressure cast and has stiffening ribs that go all the way across. On the other hand the LS1 caliper is a gravity cast GM part (no where does it say PBR).

And FWIW here is what each style PBR caliper was used on:

"Old" PBR Twin piston caliper

- C4 Corvette (88-96) 12" or 13" rotor (bigger rotor was an optional upgrade on 95+ cars, standard on ZR1's)
- 1LE 3rd Gen cars (with 12" rotor)
- Baer Track kit (13" rotor)
- 94+ Mustang Cobra (13" rotor)

"New" Twin Piston PBR caliper (C5 style)

- 97+ C5 Corvette, 12.8" rotor (All models, Z06's are just powdercoated red)
- Baer GTP+ Kit (13.15" rotor)

It was hardly 'everybody' (one person) however I stand corrected.

93-97 F-Body front rotor: 10.8
98-02 F-Body front rotor: 11.9
ZR-1 front rotor 13.1
97-04 Corvette front rotor: 12.6
1996 Corvette front rotor: 12.0
so can a 28 10.5 15 rim fit with stock brake and pad

Sounds like that (28"x10.5"-15) may be a drag tire for the rear? And are you asking about fitting it over LS1 brakes ore LT1 brakes? I run 28x10.5-15W ET Drags on Weld Pro-Stars. The cooling/reinforcing fins needed to be ground off the rear LT1 calipers. Other brand/design 15" wheels may or may not fit.

Re: Brake rotor sizes?

On this topic, i don't mean to astray here but i was wondering what the best street brakes you can get that are the lightest. Because i just bought all new lt1 brakes stock from carparts.com got a hell of a deal 200 for all new rotors and pads. But they are heavy in my opinion for street, i will not be running more then 400 flwhp, so i was wondering if anyone knows a lighter brake option?
