Agreed! LOL My friend put a Suncoast Creations hood on his 99 Z28 A4 & picked up alittle over 1.5 mph in the 1/4.

what can be said in this debate if your strictly talkin autocross speeds? Which would be better, SSintake or convetional CAI setups?

That article is simply incorrect. His "theory" is fine, but he's talking about flow in a closed channel, and that's not where the "ram" effect comes from. Ram air is "real".

On the 3" cowl hoods I was under the impression that the hood is made to excavate heat from the engine area. Not to provide more air. Thus why the cowl faces the windshield.
Not exactly. There is a high pressure area at the base of the windshield. The cowl hood was developed in the 60's muscle cars to take advantage of that high pressure area. In cars like the Camaro and Chevelle factory cowl hood setups, the cowl opening fed directly to the air cleaner, for added pressure. With our current front-mounted throttle body, the ducting becomes a problem, so the cowl hood ends up being mostly "for looks".
