Yeah cause Ram Air doesn't work on the dyno. If you have a fan while on a dyno it still wouldnt amount to much of anything.
Like I stated I found that article on the "myth of ram air" It didnt write it, but found it interesting reading and something to think about.
That article is simply incorrect. His "theory" is fine, but he's talking about flow in a closed channel, and that's not where the "ram" effect comes from. Ram air is "real".
On the 3" cowl hoods I was under the impression that the hood is made to excavate heat from the engine area. Not to provide more air. Thus why the cowl faces the windshield.
Not exactly. There is a high pressure area at the base of the windshield. The cowl hood was developed in the 60's muscle cars to take advantage of that high pressure area. In cars like the Camaro and Chevelle factory cowl hood setups, the cowl opening fed directly to the air cleaner, for added pressure. With our current front-mounted throttle body, the ducting becomes a problem, so the cowl hood ends up being mostly "for looks".
