Anyone ditch the EVAP?

No provisions on the side of the AS&M monoblade for the EVAP or PCV (going to run a vacuum pump in place of the PCV). However, not sure if yanking the EVAP off is a big deal or not. Will it throw an SES light, or just store a code? Lastly, is there a way to turn it off via LT1edit? The car is a weekend car. I don't mind the gas
smell.

Bottom line: Does the EVAP do anything besides vent excess fumes from the tank into the motor?

Thanks,
Ryan

That's my understanding of it.
I'm in the process of dumping mine.

Mine is strictly drag racing now.

As for setting codes, I think it will, I also heard that can be turned off so it won't set it. I think once you unplug the relay valve it will trip a code 26 (Evap Purge Control Circuit)

I did it on my '95 with OBDI. I don't know if it set any codes or turned on the SES light, because I used Tunercat to program it out before I even did it. So I would assume it can be programmed out via LT1 Edit as well. One of the lines that goes from the gas tank to the canister is a vent line for your gas tank. You need that. Look on Shoebox's page for a diagram of the lines. What I did was extend the vent line and run it parallel to the filler tube, and let it exit right next to the gas cap. You can barely see it with the fuel door open. Then I went to AutoZone and bought a vented locking gas cap. No problems yet!

Any hydrocarbon vapors recovered from the charcoal canister will help with fuel economy - probably not much, but when gasoline hits $3.00/gallon, every little bit will help .

If you have an OBD-I car, all you need to do is put a resistor equivalent to the solenoid resistance in the circuit when you remove the solenoid.

Anyone know the resistance? I'd rather turn it off thru LT1edit if possible. Under engine parameters, there is an "EAS Failure" test. Anyone know if that is the EVAP system check? Other than that I don't see anything that looks blatantly obvious. Keep in mind I'm not the most skilled LT1edit user on the board...

Fred: At this point I should consider setting the motor up for 104 unleaded. Won't cost much more pretty soon, and it would make the motor sound really cool with alot of compression .

Thanks for the replies.
