7'11" ceiling in garage lt1 removal(bottom)
Re: 7'11" ceiling in garage lt1 removal(bottom)
I think Pacesetter goofed when choosing a bracket for the system and the location of welding it. Have a look at my Kooks setup. The distance from the hanger to the pipe is about the same.

Here is the Kooks cat y-pipe.....

Just curious, are you sure the y-pipe is pushed all the way on the header flange as far as it can go? I had to emery cloth off the jet hot coat on my header flanges(about 1.5"-2""...you can see in my header post) to get the pipe to go on the headers. You may have to wait until the engine is in the car to muscle with it.
Re: 7'11" ceiling in garage lt1 removal(bottom)
i have played with that alittle too. with both sides pushed in all the way, the smaller passenger side of the y-pipe won't properly mate up with the larger y-pipe section. it seems like the small curve angle is too great. i think the problem is located there and something i either will wrestle when its on the car or something the muffler shop will mess with

finally did the install on Sunday. after i bolted down the kmember i quit. i was beat and didn't wanna do any more!
got the tranny crossmember, front sway, driveshaft, and slave cylinder bolted on today and realized the root of the problem.....
at first glance, this was my passenger side header

then, with the tranny crossmember holding the tranny in the correct angle

was gonna put my alternator back in and do my oil dipstick( which i wish i did when the motor was out), but i was little passed when i noticed the header, Haha

did my steering linkage today. i put some anti seize on it to get it to slide on easier

couldn't get both sides to slide on, so i jacked up the car alittle by the kmember and turned the wheels little by little till both sides lined up

also tightened down my ac compressor and connected most of my radiator hoses. found some fluid on my compressor. hope it wasn't compressor oil, don't know. hopefully it isn't leaking, but after cleaning everything before installing i don't know what else it could be. gonna check it in the morning to see if it has leaked more

put everything back together last night. last thing i hooked up was the battery. as i was hooking it up, the starter started clicking and tried to start the car without the key in the ignition. i hurried to disconnect it, but the car actually jumped forward a foot! woke me up quick. my car had the parking brake on and was in gear(must have put it in gear as i was putting my shifter in). as i was pulling the positive cable it was still clicking on and off
i had to stop just after this last nite. gonna check tonight what's up if i get a chance. any ideas or insights? my starter was working fine before this and never showed any signs of solenoid problems, never had any security issues?

lol...it's not that common.
The purple wire is the voltage to the solenoid from the key and that one is getting power somewhere. It's likely that point is from the always hot large gauge battery cable. Pull 'me off the solenoid and reassemble carefully. If it does the same thing it could be a bad solenoid...

its runs! the car is throwing an ABS inop light and the low traction one too. is that cuz i haven't bled the front brakes yet? all i did was connect the two brake lines to the abs module

it wasn't that bad once you read all the other write-ups and get all the good help on this forum. shoebox's Camaro bible is a huge help as well.
if i can do this in my garage with two jacks, a motorcycle jack, an engine stand, two engine hoists, and a simple craftsman 220pc mechanics set, ANYONE can

awesome job. Ive been kicking around the idea of this myself. I've got the room to do it but hate to sit my 2010 outside in the process. I did a cam swap a in a itty bitty garage years ago with the engine in the car. I need to trace down some gremlins keeping it from running these days. much needed upkeep. was my garage queen until i got my new camaro in 2010.
Ive got some 2x4 stacks to make.

Pulled mine out the top using a tool called the happy hooker (made by tpis),pulled the front accsesories off and the hood, came right out without a problem.( I did have to undo the a/c lines)Will be putting motor back in this way also when machine shop is done with it.
