I have the same problem, but my 383 burns oil and I think oil in the cylinders causes hard start. After I changed valve seals and pistons I hope it will disappear.

Oh I smell gas and oil both, I know I'm running rich too This not be your issue, but I mean there are more than 1 reason for hard start and hesitating.

Its been a while since i posted on this thread. Iv been waiting for my harmonic balancer to come in from a crappy company. Ended up getting two diff ones i didn’t order. But any way I got it on and ready to go. I have an appointment to take the car to the dyno on the Tuesday after thanksgiving and I hope they will be able to help me with my problem. I can’t afford a good scanner so im not going to be able to purchase one. I really think it’s the tune because when I put in the old smaller stock, injectors the car did no misfire what so ever. It just surged which is expected from running lean. I just put the big injectors back in the car and it is again running like crap. I pulled out the spark plugs and they are all black. I am having trouble getting the compression tester to fit in the tight areas, so I was able to get a compression test on only one cylinder that read 180 psi. Which I know does not mean much since it is consistency that I really need to test. FYI engine only has about 30 miles on it if that.

Like i said I think the injector swap really convinced me. What do you guys think. Any recommendations or advise I should have before going to the shop? Their not going to dyno it (not enough miles on the car) their going to re-tune the ECU.

Another update. I took the car to Dragon Racing (Tuneing shop) He was thinking that the mail order tune dident encompass volumetric efficiency change from the cam. I guess lol. So i left it there for two nights and I called him up today and he said that its just not responding the way they want. He dident give me to many detials on that. He said they were currently doing a vacuum check on it. So we will see what happends. If any one is still reading this thread pray for me guys.

well i dono whats up now. I talked to the guy today and he said that its having some issues. Basically he read back the issues i was having from the start and they dont know what the problem is. The guy said hes going to have to look into it personally tomorrow morning then he will touch base with me. Now he is thinking it might be mechanical. He just realized it starts running fine when warm but not good at all when cold. So several months later and still have no idea. And i was excited that the car was fixed too. obviously was not the truth.

Well i have really good new and really bad news for me. First they fixed 90 % of my issues. The car starts right up, no stumbling, hesitating or any other issues. The only thing is that the guy thinks the car will still have hot start issues until the engine is broken in and I install a larger TB.

Bad news. Car is leaking a whole hell of a lot of oil out the pressure sensor (I think). The guy told me it was but It didn’t have that issue till now. I know the sensor was broke but it wasn’t leaking. So apparently is was leaking all the way home. 15 mile drive... I definitely heard the tapping but dident know what it was because it was not bad at all. The temp stayed good so hopefully all ok. I will have to replace the oil sensor, but other than that every thing seems ok.

SO THE PROBLEM WAS THE TUNE.... THE END lol DragonRacing

They told me that who ever tuned my ecu before did a real lazy job at it. They also did not account for the change in volumetric efficiency. So if your going to get your ECU mail order tuned, dont go to Mad tuners. If you do, you re live this entire 6 or 7 page thread of hell.

thanks, but im not clear yet. Still have some stuff to buy before the final tune. TB, Intake port work, and headers.

I installed the new pressure sensor today and turned the car on for the first time since i got it back from the shop and it was spuddering at first again. I think it has alot to do with the fact that ist about 40 deg out here. It started right up, dident stall, dident sputter to bad and dident last long. but i was a little worried about that. Ill wait and do another cold start and see what happends.

Another thing that really pist me off was that after getting the car back and haveing that oil leak i drained the oil and only have about 2 to 2.5 quarts of oil in the pan. Im worried that might have damaged some bearings. Plus i have some serious under car cleaning to do.
