"Hole in the Hatch" fuel pump removal

With the carpet covering it, you won't see anything anyways. And they went pretty crazy with the screws... I doubt they would have any problems with leaks and such. The only thing I would do is maybe paint or coat where it was cut... just to prevent corrosion on the untreated metal.
The only thing I wonder about is how safe it is to use a blow-torch to cut the hole when it's so close to the fuel tank?
Anyone have any other suggestions of how to do it?

how do the lines disconnect?
I am going to replace my pump soon by this method, but the only part I don't get is how the multiple fuel lines disconnect from the pump assembly in order to allow you to lift it straight up. Can anyone show a photo of the disconnect method, or describe it?
pics of mine
I just did mine ..
i used a dremel and there were TONS of sparks... WAY too much sparking .. but im sure GM does a fine job sealing the pump on the tank so there are no fumes
but ones u take out the pump MAKE SURE noone walks around with a cigarette lol
here are my pics
Sparks
Hole
the lines are a BIT of a PITA to do
2 of them have the fast disconnect connectors (use fingers to pinch them) .. other 2 which are for CCP lines just pull out
i suggest u cut a bit more over where the lines go in so u can reach the tabs easier with ur fingers ... i didnt get any cuts but it did take me about 10 minutes to undo and redo the lines that way...
