LS6 block in some F bodies
Man! After all of this discussion, I'm almost glad that I don't have to worry about the "prestige factor" of having an LS6 in my early 2000 model. Seriously, I think that it is cool for all you guys that can say you have the LS6 - that is a great trivia point.

Gents,
A LS6 block in your F-Body might sound cool, but the blocks are interchangable per GM.
A LS6 block in a F-Body means NOTHING from the factory.
A factory LS1 Block can be modded to make very respectable Horsepower and Torque.
Enjoy your cars.

I'm in the same boat as you; my 2002 B4C has the ls6 block with the ls6 intake. Have you found out anything different about what it would take ie heads, cam etc.... to become the total ls6 as in the ZO6.
any info would be greatly appreciated

Just something I thought you guys may find interest in.

I can't find this, looking now, I guess the site's changed. All that comes up in the search on the Chevrolet.com website is this . Anyone spot what's wrong here?

Ha!
That's pretty funny...Wonder who put THAT pic there?

I just read all 6 pages of this tired @ss thread..... and hardly anybody came up with physical evidence of the LS6 block ie. the unique casting number. So what is the verdict?
Does anyone have any proof that the '02 cars with the LS6 block have any mesureable HP differences than the '02 LS1 buddies? ...... or is it just bragging rights?

Its probably just bragging rights. Just a little better design in the oil circulation. There was an artical in camaro magazine that out lined the differences. I think it was Dec. issue. Not sure if its any stronger. But it is a shade different in color. One things for sure Its different from the LS1 block. I think its a cool collector factor maybe. Really no better than the ls1 blkas far as stock performance numbers.
Its only too long because you don't care about it.
I thought we were all interested in camaros??
Or are some people tired of it because they don't have it (ls6).
sound like a maturity issue too me. Get over it and read a different thread or better yet sell you SS and go buy a stang I now they don't want to hear about it on there site!!!
And for those of us that care heres some info on the LS6 Blk vs LS1 blk.
LS6 casting number on my car is 12561168
LS1 casting number for the LS1 blk is 21050006
Oh almost forgot direct quote from Camaro Magazine
"Improved bay to bay breathing"
The aluminum block castings deletes the machined holes in the ls1 block bulkhead and adds honed "overtravel" windows, which allow better bay to bay breathing. On the downstroke, pistons push air back toward the crankcase, creating back pressure, ,or resistance, that slows downward movement and robs power.
The ls6 block reduces this internal "windage" by managing airflow more efficiently. the overtravel windows allow air to move more freely between cylinder bays, reducing backpressure and freeing the pistons downward movement.
Do you need a picture???????
