well i disagree after my magnaflow and cai with my 95 A4 i ran 13.7 @102.07 first pass of the day on the second pass i ran 13.5 @ 101.35 now does that me i change gears and tires in the pits no , but could it mean that maybe i had less wheel spin and maybe a cooler engine temp sure it can... sorry to break it to you but you know nothing about what your talking about.. so before you say it can't happen think about things first, anything is possible in this world just tell yourself that and you will be ok...

Re: Is the LS1 that much more powerful than LT1 SS?

Just to add my 2 cents to this lol

In my driveway sits a 95 Camaro Z28 with Dragsprings, LCA's, CAI, cutout, EGR delete, AIR delete, Cat Delete, Front swaybar delete, TB bypass, Descreened MAF, Longtubes, TB airfoil, Hurst shifter, and a centerforce clutch

Also in my driveway sits a 2001 WS-6 Trans Am, A-4 bone stock (Mom's car lol)

My brother raced me with it from a 65mph roll and he still managed to put half a car on me by 90, however from a stop its a much different story.

stock LS-1 vs. stock LT-1, the LS-1 should win everytime

14.0 for an LT1 bone stock can only be accomplished under a perfect run?!? My bone stock LT1 (including dirty filter, plugged fuel filter, at 225+*, old crappy tires.. widetrack SR, with bulges/cracked/balding) ran a 14.124 with a 2.3 60ft... If I took a couple more passes, and figured at what RPM to bring it to and cut the wheel spin down, I think my BONE STOCK LT1 could hit high 13's.. yet I agree that stock for stock/ similarily modded lt1 vs/ ls1, the ls1 will win... And for some odd reason, all the LS1's ive raced I am in front of until at least 60. Just get that SS checked out, and I would purchase it either way, as those year SS's are quite rare, and my favorite 4th gen fbody produced (96/97 SS) Yet looks are subjective. Good luck with whatever path you choose.

damn man wtf are you thinking

a 2.16 60' is slow for a stock LT1, if he gets a 2.06 he can see as much as a .2 increase in his overall ET just by hooking up....at that ET sticky tires aint really needed

that car is broken...
You must own an LT1 . Well , I have omned 2 LT's and an LS and even bolt ons wont do much to match the LS1 .
My LS1 was running 13.20's with ease spinning thrue first @109 w a 2.2 60
This was Pretty much stock .
Header LT1's trap about 103-104 wich is what A Stock LS1 usually runs .
I beat more then one LT1 with gears/cai/tune with justa stock LS1 .

The power differance is unreal . Go find another stock LT1 and drive it if you dont beleive it . There is probably nothing wrong with the SS . After I bought the LS1 LT1 cars felt slow to me also .
Trap SPeeds tell HP and I have seen many camm/header LT1's trapping 109 .
WIchmeans they had bout the same amount of HP as my LS1 did when It only had a lid .

Newer car(98+), newer engine(LS1), it better be faster than the LT1!! So stock for stock, yes the LS1 is more powerfull than the LT1.

Well I can't comment too much on LT1 vs LS1 as I haven't raced any yet in my car, but I'm wanting to race my friends 94 T/A M6 (TransAmGT94) with shorties, flowmaster muffler, CAI, no smog crap, and pullies to see where mine stands. However, you REALLY should keep that 96 SS that you bought from your boss. Like one of the earlier posts said, you can drive the LT1 when the LS1 breaks and vice versa. I'd love to have an LT1 to tool around in if/when my SS would break. I'd even be happy to have even a clean 350 IROC. Those suck on top end, but a trucklike torque curve still makes those fun.

I had 2 lt1's and loved them both but the LS1 runs soooo much better. 0-60 it seems close but at about 70 in the LS1 look out! The LS1 almost feels like a new motor kicks in. I did get much better gas milage in the LT1 though.

Better Gas ? WOW...first time I ever heard that one . My first LT1 averaged 230 to the tank my second got 220 average and My LS1 always gets 300+
When I first got it I got over 400 miles to a tank of gas coming back from florida all highway . ANd thats running my AC for a few hours .
The best I ever got out of My LT1 cars was 275 to a tank . That was in my six speed LT1 . The Auto...shew , I shoulda been paced bye a fuel truck in that thing .

You know I always heard that the LS! was better for gas milage but I haven't seen it yet. I did get 400 out of a tank on the highway though, that was unheard of in the LT1 but city I very rarely get more than 220 out of a tank. MY M6 LT1 usually always got about 275. MAybe I need to chnge the fuel filter?

fuel filter might help but having a convertible can affect mileage too.

I dunno about that, they are completely different. I think the only thing they share is the antifreeze that comes in them. The LT1 is a great motor though, and with a hotcam kit I would say it would be right there with the LS1. Stock to stock no way.
