Could you please explain how one feathers out a clutch to get 1.90s.

It seemed that I either got it to bog or blaze the tires off the line. ....and that was not for a lack of trying to get it somewhere in the middle.

If I hit a 1.95 60', that would give me something like a 12.93 based on getting a 13.22 with a terrible 2.24 60' - roasting the tires.

TIA
Feathering out the clutch is basically just a function of allowing the clutch to only partly engage. When I launch on street tires, I pretty much hold the RPM's around 3500-4K and slip the clutch instead of dumping it. Basically, you are able to control exactly how much power is going to the tires. You want them to be on the threshold of slipping, but not spinning. If you are spinning the tires, you aren't making the most efficient use of your car's power to get you going. When you finally feel that the tires are able to grip under wide open throttle, you take your foot off the clutch pedal completely. You should never let the RPM's drop anywhere below 3,500 because if you do, the car won't be in the "power band" and it will probably BOG on you. The key to running good ET's is keeping the engine in the power band as long as possible and getting the tires not spin while you're making the most possible power for that speed.

Don't get me wrong, its not easy to do. Its taken me about 2 years to figure out exactly how my car "likes" to be driven. Each car is different as well...and of course driving a car on the street is completely different than driving a car at the track. Basically, it just boils down to you're going to need some more seat time at the track to learn how to drive your M6 better...which in turn will probably make you need a new clutch. If you got any more specific questions for me, just let me know.

Thanks a lot man...

I've heard of bringing the revs up to 3500-4000 before, but couldn't figure out how it could work when I blew the tires by only bringing it up to 2500revs.

Now I can see why I'll need a SPEC Stage III Clutch real soon.

12.90s... here I come!

Thanks again!
