How many LS1's went 12's bone stock?

My 00 WS6 went 13.1 so far. The only mods I have are a cutout in the stock WS6 exhaust, removed the hood baffles and a SPEC stage 3 carbon clutch. Our local track(Thompson Drag Raceway)has to be one of the worst tracks in the country. This particular day, the temps were near 97' in July on a Wednesday(Grudge night). Our track actually goes uphill a bit and they don't glue the track at all on Grudge night, since it's mainly street cars. This track is so pathedic they hardly spray any water in the burnout box. We ran the WS6 several passes on the 275/40/17 Nittos drag radials and couldn't get anything better then a 2.1 60ft and 13.30s. I had my SS there to but chose not to run it since the track conditions were so poor. We couldn't get any traction with the Nittos, so I tossed on the ET Streets 26x10.5x16 from my SS. The WS6 still has the stock 10 bolt I dropped the pressure in the slicks down to 15psi and the car hooked but bogged REALLY bad! I ended up running 24PSI in the slicks(making them pretty much useless, but better then the Nittos). Running the slicks at 24psi allowed the car to keep the RPM up and not bog. The highest I could launch was just under 3000rpm and the car would spin the tires evenly through the 60ft but netted a 1.9 60ft and that was the 13.1. I know if we had better track conditions as well as better weather...we would have had 12.8s easily. Astock LS1 M6 is VERY capable of turning high 12s with nothing done or very little.

Fireturd did it in his 98 when it was 100% bonestock. This was witnessed by a bunch of people from here and other sites. MPH was 110 I think. The 01 WS6 I just picked would be a candidate as it is a real strong runner. I'll have to see if I can keep it stock long enough for the tracks to open.

I see most stock autos (including mine when it was stock) hit mid to high 13's. I think mine was only good for a 13.7 when totally stock (the crappy time in sig was after the dynomouth but before the lid and ssra). I have the 3.23's so I know any 01 or 02 LS1 would be faster but I have yet to see one that was 8/10's faster stock for stock.
In good weather at a very elevation friendly track I could see the possibility of an A4 hitting 12's but here in Joliet at 700 feet above sea level I doubt I'll ever see one do it.

What few stockers I have heard of running a 12 have all been M6 cars. I have never heard of an A4 doing it stock. However, just stick a decent convertor in an otherwise stock A4 and it will run 12s all day long and the M6 boys don't have a chance.

you would need the 3.42 gears and extra HP that the manuals have. The autos can only have 3.23's at best but that's not what is stopping them the most. The stock 1800 stall torque converter is the biggest hinderance and why I would be shocked to see a auto hit 12's while still completely stock.

thats what I was looking for, info on the gears and the converter. if the auto would even allow a 12 out of it with the stock converter, stock shift points, and stock gear... Also you go to rt66 in Joilet? Thats where I go. When do they open for the season, March? let me know if you go out there anytime this spring. Thanks, Shane

Yeah I go to route 66 raceway in Joliet. It's only 10 minutes from my house
They open for test n tune on Saturday April 17. Then the next day is Tuesday April 20th. Unfortunately they are kind of pricey for TNT at $35 and they start the season late and close it early. I think the last TnT there was very early September. I remember the vary last night was about 90 degrees outside.
I'll probably pass on Saturday the 17'th only because it's probably going to be so rediculously crowded it might be three hours between runs, maybe more. If I do pass then I'm gonna be there for sure that Tuesday the 20th. I'm dying to get a more respectable time in my sig (which was run in bad heat and with only the Dynomouth). I plan to have my 3500 stall TC, tranny cooler, shift kit and Nittos 555r's by then so I hoping to shatter that time and get some high 12's.

My A4 did it with loudmouth/lid, free mods, and Nittos. The 60 ft on the nittos was the same as my GSC's though. This was in warm and muggy conditions too. Some people have called my car a freak though! Check the video and numbers in my sig. Once I get my TC and headerson this spring I am hoping for low 12's or maybe high 11 even. i also have a TNT wet kit waiting for warmer weather! So yep, a stock convertor can do 12's!
