Starter Circuit Voltage Problems
Starter Circuit Voltage Problems
Im having some problems with my 94 Trans Am. auto
Long story short, the wire giving the voltage signal to engage the solenoid at the starter is getting 8 volts.
Battery cables are clean and tight. Battery checks at 12.4 volts. At the ignition switch there is 12.4 volts going in, 8 volts coming out.
So I replaced the ignition switch. Same thing with a new switch. I unhook the wire at the starter solenoid, check it unhooked and it has 12.4 volts. Go back to the ignition switch and there is 12.4 volts coming out of it. Hook the wire back to the starter, check again and 8 volts.
If you jump the starter at the starter, it will crank just fine.
What is happing? Solenoid bad?
