Red paint differences

Hello is there a different paint code for the IROC Z red and the Bright red used on the 4th gens? To my eye the Bright red looks liek it has alot of orange in it and the IROC red seems closer to a deeper Guards Red.

Thanks for reading

Im sure there is. Paint codes change all the time and just because the code is the same doesn't mean its the same color. Paint companies end up releasing several alternates for the same oem code.

My 2001 camaro ss is Bright Ralley Red, but if the sun is shinning just right it looks oranage. When I see a comparable 2001 red firebird it does not have that look of orange in it.

I thought that was me, but I noticed that myself with the reds.

Are the black hues different? I know 1998 it became "Onyx Black" but is still code 41.

The basic "Red" was code 75 from 82-85. In 86 the code chanced to 81 and it was called "Bright Red" and remained the same until the bitter end (02).... at least according to the Camaro White Book.

I just looked at my original invoice on my 2001 ss and the paint code is an 81. I also looked at a Firebird sales manual from 2000 and the paint code is 81. When I bought my car I remember going to a dealer and they had a firebird and camaro in their show room both in red. I noticed a slight difference in the 2 reds and the sales guy told me that they are different but not by much. I have always wondered how could two cars with the same paint code look differnet. I've had my car next to many red firebirds and their is a small difference. My car is never left out in the sun and has been garaged since new and only has 14200 miles. Once again my car does look orange if the sun is just right, but firebirds don't appear to look like that.
