Cut fat run faster

Any good sites on cutting some fat? I want it to still look like a street car. Already pulled the washer fluid tank(good place to hide the MSD) removed door bars(a lot harder than it looks)back seat belts(passengers dont make you go faster!) and carpet insulation. Any oyher help would be great.

^ Yeah... That's the list I used..

I cut a lot of fat out of my Z28. I think I cut out about 250lbs or so... It made a difference! Even something as simple as deleting the spare, I noticed a slight improvement! I'm addicted!

What I've deleted.. Not trying to jack, just contributing..

-Spare, jack and hold downs gone (might not have been a good idea to delete too much from the trunk area = no traction now.. )
-Sound deadening stuff from the trunk
-Monsoon gone
-Plastic crap in trunk gone, (Not rear speaker panels)
-Rear speakers gone
-Rear speaker wiring harness gone.. , also for monsoon..
-Sound deadening material from floor of car, and over the trans hump.
-Sound deadening stuff from the sides of the car where the sail panel speakers are
-A/C gone
-AIR system gone
-EGR Gone
-Cruise control module and cable gone
-Extra useless plastic shrouds near sway bar on driver's side
-SOME heat shealding removed
-Fiberglass hood (I think it saves 35lbs)

I'm dyign to get behind the dash to get rid of some of that crap! Man, I'm telling you.. Once you start w/ free gains, it's hard to stop! I want light weight carpet now.. I use the windshield washer system, that's a safety item.

Taking weight off the car is addictive to the point where every time you open the hood you just want to start ripping stuff out! .... "Screw it! Rip the HVAC unit out! I need the heat, tho!... Loose EVERYTHING!... Loose the engine, that's heavy!"...

That sound deadening stuff is HEAVY! I yanked a lot of it out, but it makes the in car sound/drone worse.. It almost sounds like the back trunk lid is open

the alum shaft is ALOT lighter...i'd say a solid 10lbs...

i should really look into doing this stuff to my car. it gets driven 2k miles a year...

i need to put a decent radio in so i can ditch the crapy monsoon speakers. don't need any "bump" just enough radio to listen to

Maybe I misread, but I though he was referring to the power steering shaft.. Again, correct me if I'm wrong..

And yeah, the ALUM LS1 Drive shaft is a NICE improvement over the LT1 shaft, I'll agree 100% on that!

^ What more do you want out of this? We have a link for a site that lists what saves what weight.. Along with reviews from members..

Just trying to clarify...

The a lot of small stuff adds up... A/c is kind of heavy... along w/ a bunch of sound deadening material. Tubular K member saves weight and frees up some room. I'm trying to figure out how to get the dash off.. From what I hear, there's a HUGE piece of insulation back there that weighs a LOT... Like 35lbs, a LOT. I'm dying to get back there and rip that out.

depends if "look like a street car" means it is a track only car that never sees the open road (but looks like it does) you can do quite a bit. bumper crash honeycomb and aluminum crash bars, door bars, about 50 plus pounds right there. then 44 pounds for carpet and insulation (get ozite). dump instead of having a catback, take out rear seats-belts, pass. seat + belts, all trunk plastic, air con (50#)speakers, head unit, spare tire, jack, sunvisors, carbon fiber hood, fiberglass body + panels or plastic ones from vfn. etc. you get the point. most of these won't change the look at all of the car and don't forget about removing excess wiring for speakers pdl, ps, pw, pm etc.

depends what you intend to do with it as you weren't specific.

PS I wouldn't remove any safety bars or crash bars if you drive it on the street, others may disagree but I know there are plenty of dumbasses out there to make me glad that mine are still on the car.
