Tracks Results w/ STS Turbo Kit.

This is from Angie's post on tech;

Many of you know that we installed an STS turbo kit on my 2001 Z28 daily driver back last October. I was able to get it to the track once after the turbo install only to discover that my transmission was toast from previous track abuse and I ran slower and slower on every pass. At the beginning of November, we installed a stock rebuilt 4L60E (nothing special, just had the local tranny shop do it) and a Vigilante 2800 converter. The day after installing the trans, I broke my leg at our shootout and was out of commission for almost 5 months. Well, I finally got back to the track this weekend. A group of us from Thunder went to the National F-body Motorsports Event (www.fbody-event.org) in Memphis. I drove my car to Memphis from Baton Rouge late Thursday night (5.5 hour trip) and took it straight to the track the next morning. I pulled up to the line within 5 minutes of getting to the track and having made no changes to the car. I was running on 17 X 11" ZR1 wheels w/ BFG KD's...full interior.

First Pass: 11.80 @ 118.52 (1.92 60')

My previous best before the turbo was 12.25 @ 113.64 (1.83 60') ON DRAG RADIALS and SKINNIES, with the seats & swaybar off the car.

I was extatic with the car and backed up the 11.80 with about seven 11.77 - 11.79 passes, with MPH's up to 119.4...all in full street trim with street tires (approx 3620 lbs) Damn consistent for bracket racing...too bad I suck at cutting a light and was out in the first round

The next day I borrowed a set of used ET streets from a customer at the track and ran with those. My first time down the track on these I ran 11.467 @ 119.5 with a 1.69 60' I tried launching a little different on the converter and ran 11.518 @ 119.73. I didn't want to put too much abuse on a set of borrowed tires, so I returned them and went back to the radials. I ran a best of 11.76 @ 119.05 back on the KD's at noon.

As far as mods, the car has Thunder Racing 1-3/4 headers, ASP pulley, STS turbo kit w/ 5 lbs of boost and 3.42 gears. Completely stock 96,000 mile bottom end never been touched.

Needless to say, I am very happy with my tame 11 sec daily driver. We drove it back to Baton Rouge today and I'll drop off my kids to school in the morning. I'm also planning on getting a set of the MT ET Street Radials and trying those out soon at No Problem.

I think Bradley may have some video and I'll update my web page in the next day or two.

Re: Tracks Results w/ STS Turbo Kit.

wow...at first i was gonna say taht mpg is low...

since i'm running about 400 rwhp and got almost 25mpg @ 80 recently.

but then i read that it's an auto with 6spd gears...so it makes a bit more sense.

but i still thought turbos got really good milage...
