Talking First time at the track! (in nearly 3 years)

Talk about ill prepared. I don't even have a tach, let alone a shift light. I don't have a decent tune in the car, I'm using Jeff Bromberger's 396 - T-Trim file, I have to "pump" the throttle to get the car to start (even though it's fuel injected).
I don't have a clue what my tire pressure is.
I don't know what my pinion angle is.
I do know that it's hot and humid as HELL, I'm pouring sweat.

.. And I embarassed some race cars

*** Disclaimer *** The track is *supposedly* 600' long, I don't know, I didn't bring my tape measure w/me. I do know that everyone says I should add .30 to .35 seconds to my E.T. to convert to a real 8th mile E.T.

1st pass, cold off the trailer. No laptop. No nothing, no helmet, no fire jacket, no tech inspection, no nothing.

(1/8th mile)
6.07 @ 109
with a dismal 1.62 60' (hooked and bogged)

2nd run, cooled down. Still no tach, shifting by "ear"..
5.93 @ 110
with a dismal 1.54 60' (hooked and bogged)
The kid at the time slip shack pulls me over and says I'm done unless I can find a helmet and a fire jacket, he also tells me that I'm wanted in the tower...
.....so I go to the tower.... The 'ol boy tells me I need a helmet and that I qualified 7th in the "quick 8" for the evening.. That's freakin wild. I was one of maybe 3 door slammers and most definately the only street car in the quick 8, the rest were rails and altereds.. Anyhoo, I go borrow a helmet and get back up to the staging lanes where I'm matched against a '77 Nova (schnaazzy car ) , but he's a local w/ one arm , nice guy. I treed him w/ a .525 light and ran a:

5.92 @ 109
w/ a 1.49 60' (dead hooked and bogged)

I ran my 5.92 on a 5.90 dial and won, but I was done for the night.
I need to get the car up in the air and make sure everything is holding up alright. These tranny brake launches are wicked, the car is dead hooking the 28x13.50 QTP's, but then it bogs because my tune sucks. I'm running a 3k pill in the 2-step, I think I'll put in a 3.5k pill and see what happens.

Tuning would be nice too..

anyway, I was very, very pleased with my results. I know the car can run 6.0's on a true 8th mile track with a decent tune.

...Then we start playing with the boost remember, I'm running minimum boost for these actuactors (15psi)

Anyway, I've got videos on my Twin Turbo page, and I've got Time slip details on Track Times page.

Sounds awesome! 6.23 (5.93+3 tenths), equates about a 9.70-9.80......

Good job, now get all them damned bugs worked out!

SOunds ALOT like a track we have here. 1/8 mile, and its a bunch of yahoos. The fastest car there is usually a Beetle that runs mid 10s at our local 1/4 track. Last year one day we invaded them with 7 and 8 second cars..... Quite the riot...

Good job Brady!!

I have been frequently checking your website for track times and dyno numbers to really see what the twin turbo kits can do.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh snap! Good lord Brady!!! Just take a look back and you'll see why this was a jaw-droppin' event. 1)You were shifting by ear and its not like you are use to doing that 2)Your running the wrong frickin' tune 3)Your suspension wasn't even optimally setup

Geeze bro, I can't wait to hear what happens when the car is bug free and setup to race!! LOL... Big congrats man and keep it on the flipside. It should only get better from here...
