  • Welding the intakes bolt holes up and drilling new 'LT1' oriented bolt holes
That was about it, right?
pretty much it, yessir.

Like said above, it is a SBC intake, I need to convert it to fit the LT1 heads.

What i did on mine was weld up the old bolt holes, then re-drill the new holes for the LT1 head. Although mine was already drilled for the LT1 when i got it, the old ones had yet to be welded up. Since some of the holes kinda over lap the new ones, we welded up the old holes, then drilled to clean the new holes back up. We then put a bead around the new holes to build up the lower halves of the new holes (this is so the bolt head would then sit flat when bolted down), cleaned the holes back up, then spot faced where we built up so we'd have a flat surface around the bolt heads. Some have cut angled spacer washers to accomplish this, but we wanted to weld. After all was said and done and i finished all the work, i sand blasted the manifold (smooth surfaces i didn't want to hit taped off). It gave it that somewhat rough new clean look again and hid where i had to do work to the manifold. I also added some material at all 4 corners then ground it down to look like it was originally part of the manifold. There isn't a whole lot of material at the corners on the edelbrocks once you drill your new holes, so its best to add some material there. I wish i had took some pics of the finished manifold before i put it on. Just wasn't thinking then...

What made you choose a distributor over the opti? Not that it's not a nice distributor.

well a I havnt dont much work as the garage is cold as **** and I just started insulating. And havent got my heater. Right after xmas im going to finish the garage and put the heater so it will be ball out then!

Anyways I cut the rad supports out in place for a nice thick 1 1/4 bar and a 1inch bar at the bottom to mount the turbo and give more body support.

There shouldnt be any issues with heat where the turbo is as I have the turbo blanket and have about 4inches from the Fans and the waterpump.

I am also waiting for my V-bands and my Extreme velocity Car hat to come in to finish the hot then cold side.

Well today I got all the seats out (pending sale) and Made the merge for the turbo! I decided to make it divided for future turbo swap (S400-S480-S485) Since they are divided.

I will add the wastegate after all the hot side is done.

Still waiting on my damn v-bands to come in so I can start.

I finished the crossover minus the wastegate bc I need some pipe for that still. The heads are going out tomorrow to be machined to insure they are flat and glass beaded then washed.
Im suppose to get my picker thursday so I may Yank the motor this weekend and reassemble it, then repaint the entire engine bay!

I ended up trading my intake for the head work since it was around the same price, Im gonna get an efi intake since I didnt know the company made one.
OR a vic jr and keep the stock hood.

Jay
