WOw... guess its been a while since I've checked the thread but THIS is the last post????...nonono ....allow me to retort....

FIRST of all wise a$$ i wasn't "proving" anything about the STS system in particular when i spoke about the ideal gas law. I was mearly commenting on turbo operation. And if you know any 6th graders that can understand and apply the ideal gas law then you should probably contact MENSA.

Second of all, I never claimed to be a mechanical engineer, although I am about 2 semesters away from gettin my BS in mech. engineering.

As far as what you say I should discuss...lets see...yeah if I wanted to get into a VERY long winded and coplex rant about turbo operation I COULD start talking about energy and the conservation of energy...not to mention entropy and enthalpy......but come on.... conservation of f**king momentum? what, am I supposed to calculate the mass and velocity of each individual partical of exhaust gas at a given temperature...oooh then we could calculate the rotational inertia of the turbine and the mass of the individual fins and all of the torques aplied by our individual exhaust gas particles.....gimme a f**kin break......the ideal gas law works just fine for a SIMPLE, SHORT and EASY TO COMPREHEND explanation of turbo operation. If you want a freakin thesis paper about the subject I COULD write you one but I just figured for a post on a car forum it wasn't necessary.

Besides all of that, you got that quote from a post in which I was trying to apologize for being a jerk about the STS system. This, my friend, makes YOU even more of a jerk in addition to being an idiot.

So....in conclusion.... I would like you to feel free to BITE ME....

Re: ls1 turbo

another point to bring up....heads/cam will hurt gas mileage. The sts only kicks in at WOT thus allowing you to drive around town while maintaining your mpg. It's all based on preference. An fbody with either a cam or an sts will both be bad cars...if someone prefers the sts then that's no problem with me. Same goes with heads/cam or supercharger.

Re: ls1 turbo

Good point, i would get the same mpg with the turbo system. As long as your light on the boost. I was only able to do that on a couple tanks to check.
It depends on what kind of power you like.

100* out that day, DA being 3600-4000ft. He was running out of fuel at 6K(he has a cam) and 4.10 gears in a 6 speed. He couldn't run up to 6600rpms like normal. Oh..and that was just baby'n the car out of the hole through 1st, hit 2nd and hammered it....hammered 3rd and let off in 4th because of the fuel issue. He still trapped 115mph.

I rode in his car. It pulls hard and starts making boost at 3200rpms with full 5# below 3500. Lag..just enough to get off the line then full boost. Remember, 3.42 gear will help him MUCH more then 4.10s. :Think GN:

Besides, if that was the case then why do you need to run alc injection for boost levels over 6#s. Even powerdyne and vortec can run 6#s without an intercooler.
Agreed. I have a P1SC pushing 7# of boost. The guys out in Vegas that had one of my friend tune their car were seeing 140* intake temps in mid 90* temps. While I was seeing nothing over 112* air intake temps using the stock ATI intercoolers(twins).

Does the piping help, I'm sure it does, but its not enough.

They can run alc injection or they can do what the paxton/vortech people are doing...get bigger injectors and program the computer accordingly

Just my $.02

Re: ls1 turbo

We have 42# Bosch injectors that are working good with tuning unlike the 50#delphis. We are tuned for 13psi with meth/water, yes you need some kind of cooling over 5-6psi, and our intake temps are around 120+- in our LS1. This is also in 90+ humid heat. A front mount could be added, we have been working on some ideas.

Re: ls1 turbo

I have an '02 Formula, m6, stock except for LS6 springs and ported tb. I have the sts kit on and at 5psi I made 412/451 untuned. The car drives bone stock; I have goten over 29mpg on more than one occasion; makes full boost by 3000; makes over 400ftlbs from about 3500-5000.
As a comparison; I raced an 01 Formula, a4, m2 cam, Patriot heads, 3500 stall, longtubes, ory, tuned by someone very reputible. From about 30, we were dead even. From 50, I pulled on him.
Just my .02 worth.
