Nobody seems to agree with re-using the 3-4 load release springs. The modification I made to my 60e by grinding the retainer housings .040-.060 is one thing I learned from you although I'm not near as qualified to explain the reason for doing it as you are.
Thanks again Crosley for all your help.
FYI: For anyone needing an excellent source of transmission info, I highly recommend visiting Crosleys website.

It is easier to list the OE 4L60E / 65E rotating parts involved in transmitting the power that I have NOT seen broken.
That number is 0
I offer apologies on my web site offered in the link posted by Mike 96... it is simply stuff I put up on the net to help with visual answers to common email questions I have received over the years. It is easier to point to a web page than retype the answers over & over
A comment was made about asking 10 tranny builders a question and receiving 10 different answers. I imagine you would receive 12 or more answers. ....... There can be several ways to achieve the same results with an automatic tranny.
I have used the TransGo kits for years. Back to the days when Gil added various cuss words to the instructions. I still have original pages from the early 700r4 kits where TG wanted the tranny guy to fill out 2 pages of feedback for TG to process. Sonnax builds some nice stuff
Like most advanced tranny guys I modify stuff to see what happens. If you see the same problem often, you adapt / change stuff to correct it. Even the general manager at my work place asked me why I am using a 325-4L bushing in a 4L60 or a torrington bearing commonly used for the t-350 pump in the same tranny.

Hey Tony,
Would you happen to have a copy of Gils 700 instructions that tell you to pry in on the servo cover with the transmission in manual low? Apply pressure until smoke starts coming out the dipstick tube???...LOL "This will cure the band"??? Too much solvent fumes for Gil?

I remember that. While doing the trick the first time to a band , the shop owner and I are thinking ; this makes no sense' . I recall we did that band curing once.
Gil is a whacky guy, sharp and intelligent, but wacky. John Kilgore is an interesting fellow too. Bought my first stall speed converter from John in 1974 or 75

Re: What broke in your 4L60E?
I have seen similar things when a bolt of something similar get wedged between the converter and housing.
One of my rear main seal housing bolts came out and luckily I had an aftermarket converter (smaller), because a few people that had the stock converter suffered similar fate to yours...

Re: What broke in your 4L60E?
Are you using a solid or polyurethane tranny mount? If so be sure the motor mount on the drivers side is not allowing excessive flex or maybe just broken. I doubt that is the problem but anything is possible.
Also, before re-installing the tranny to the block, be sure the converter is fully engaged in the pump drive gear, especially before torquing the bell housing bolts. If it is not aligned properly and torqued to spec regardless, it will break again, likely in that same spot.
