thnx for the response 'fireman' $5 seems more than reasonable for a superior fluid, I'm just wondering if its actually synthetic or not, as the debate is always, some posts have people saying not to use synthetic as the org. equip dexIII was not.....so just wondering if the honda fluid was or not.

The 2 most popular choices(to me) after reading through the majority of the posts seems to be Mobil 1 Synethic ATF or the HONDA Z1 ATF - there are a few who support the stock DexIII and a few going all out on high-perf $10++ fluids, but majority are thoose 2 IMO. So if the Z1 ends up being synthetic also, it would be clear that synthetic is 'OK' to use in the T56. If not, seems that the debate will be never ending lol

The Honda ATF is NOT synthetic. It is made if I remember correctly by Mobil and isnt even a partial sythetic. It is a very good oil. I have used it in its intended factory fill application ( hondas and acuras) with great success. I have never had one problem with my original 96 M6 in my car using RED LINE D4 ATF. And I would not trust all these guys on LS-1 tech because its just like the rest of the internet, a bunch of so called "experts" who claim that synthetics will ruin your tranny! Thats BullS**t if I have ever heard it. I persanally have had mothing but good luck with the D4 fluid although I never thought to try the honda lube. My only advice would be to call around or search the net and see what the very fast lt-1's are using. If it works for the 700 and above hp cars it should do more than a good enough job in your street car.

Cool, found a couple places that have the honda fluid online for decent $:
$3.60ea http://www.maximumautoparts.com/HO_A1b2T~Fluid_mo.html
http://www.inlinefour.com/honauttranfl.html
http://www.hondapartstore.com/Honda_...sal_01012.html
(search for like a 96 civic or something, accessories---->ATF

I'll probably just try it, thnx for the posts.
