3600stall too much?
3600stall too much?
My trans. is nearing its last lifeline...so I plan on having a race rebuild done and I want to throw in a new converter as well. My future plans for the car involve a 383 stroker w/ a LE3 h/c package with a 150 shot of spray. That is not definite but it is somewhat the direction I plan on going. Also, along with the trans., I will be upgrading to a 12-bolt rear w/ 3.73 gears. So the question is, will a 3600 stall converter be too unbearable on a bolt-on daily driver that I have right now? Or should I just throw in a stock converter and wait until the engine rebuild too go with the higher stall converter? Thanks for any help offered.

Another question for you, I planned on going with the CPT rebuild, his prices are very reasonable compared to some other trans. shops I have researched already. How much did your Pro-Torque converter cost? And how reliable are they? I have never heard of them before so I am curious. Thanks again.
Re: 3600stall too much?
My old stall was a 3,600 and it was fine with daily driving. Just tached up a bit going up inclines etc. I now have a 4,200 and it's still not that bad. I wouldn't daily it, but driving to and from work or around town for a bit is no problem.

I think it was around $600 or $650...but I can't remember the exact number...there was a discount w/the rebuild. Definitely a good price for such a good converter.

We've never had a ProTorque converter come back on us....

From what I've heard when running nitrous you don't want as high as a stall as if you were all NA. I had an EDGE converter and loved it. Very efficent and priced nicly at $530 shipped. It came with a 2 year guarentee and they custom build them to your specification. Edgeracingconverters.com
Re: 3600stall too much?
Ive got a 3600 vig that i picked up used for 400 bucks. I loved it even though i only got to drive on it a week before my engine blew. I wouldn't go any smaller with you future plans. And a 3600-3800 is about perfect for n2o. As for you trans i would send it to frank at cpt...thats what ill be doing when mine goes.
