5 point bar weight
#2
Wolfe Racecraft shows the weight of their mild steel 5-point bolt in bar as 75-80#. They show a thinner wall chrome moly should reduce that by about 20#.

Thats consistant with what I saw with my chrome moly unit. I have a 6-point (custom, not Wolfe), with an extra X-brace between the rear supports, and it would have been about 100# in mild steel, but only 70# in chrome moly.

Many years ago when I installed a 6 point MS roll bar in my car, I weighed all the bars. Total weight was 70 pounds. A 5, 6 point bar needs to be made from 1-3/4" tubing. I now have a full cage in my car with the largest tube at 1-5/8". I have a lot of tubes for a full cage and have no idea what the total weight of the cage is. My race weight (driver, fuel etc) is 3060 pounds but then it's also a gutted out race car.
MS is easy to install by anyone with a MIG. CM needs to be TIG welded and not everyone has access to a TIG.
