It may be hard to see but there is about 1/8 inch play (loose at the end).

Do you have the 93 manual? Check the cruise control section and see if there is any adjustment in the cable at the bracket that holds the end of the cable shielding.. Somehow I'm thinking there is. I removed my cruise control, so I would have to find the unit/cable in the attic over my garage to see if there is an adjustment.
