The other thing you may want to consider is not using the Air Foil. It can limit the amount of air flow from the throttle body to the passenger side valve cover(depending on which one you purchased). There is only a couple of H.P. I believe that the Air Foil is able to gain you.

Good Luck to you.[/QUOTE]

Hi
Not heard that one before. Can you tell us more about it?

What method did you use to clean yours?
I watched a video that this guy used Chemdip carburetor and parts cleaner.
Not sure this is safe for the TB.Many thanks.
I just used CRC throttle body cleaner from Auto Zone. Rags, Q tips, air hose/pressure and patience. Once you start on it, you will see it is no big deal, just parts that need cleaning, and put it back together with the new gaskets and you will be good to go.

Mitch here are a couple of threads in reference to that.....

I figured I would take the safer route in the end and not even use the Air Foil to insure I maximized the air flow for the routing to the valve cover and IAC. I am sure others have had good experience with there Air Foils, but I didn't want to chance it.

I was really glad that I did it, the gasket kit is pretty cheap, around $13.

OK. I had a few beers and grabbed the bull by the horns and successfully removed the throttle body from the car carefully as to not break the wires on the side of the tb.I had to use a rubber mallet to break the tb loose. After disassembly of the tb I let the bottom half soak all night in some degreaser so to remove the old gasket. My new gasket kit from EFI connection arrived 2 days ago so I'm ready to go.(4 gaskets)The tb really isn't that dirty except on the back of the blades and on the edges of the blades themselves, and I will be cleaning those with throttle body cleaner which I already have.I can see light through the blades at closed position. After matching the air foil up to the front of the tb I can see where air could be limited to go other places(restriction)including the nut in the back to lock it in place.I believe I'll leave it off for now. Many thanks.
I have never removed a tb before so this is a big deal for me.I'm no mechanic,so this is a great experience for me.Wish me luck.

Re: Scan93

I used a flat razor to remove the top gasket and the one that attaches to the intake manifold.Followed up with a wire brush till clean.

Re: Scan93

I also plugged up the intake manifold with rags because of the smell emitting into my garage from it.That's all.

Re: Scan93

I put everything back together and the car started right up.No dash lights, codes, fires, all ok.Car seems more responsive.Left the foil off.The second from the top cable has about 1/8 inch play at the end of the cable when the tb is closed.Wonder if that matters? Thanks for reading.

Re: Scan93

I am a little confused. The second from the top cable has about 1/8 inch play ?

My throttle body only has one cable going to it, does yours look different than the one in the picture ?

When my throttle body is closed, there is NO play in the linkage.

Re: Scan93

Maybe yours has 2 cables, and one of them is for the TV (throttle valve) which affects the transmission shifting ? I don't really know. Injuneer would most likely know for sure the what and hows of it. Wish I did know, sorry.

Re: Scan93

I think.....

93 auto trans has three cables - accel pedal, cruise control and TC cable.

94-97 ABS only car has two throttle cables.... one from the pedal and one from the cruise control.

95-97 TCS option attaches those two cables to the servo motor on top of the valve cover and runs a single cable to the throttle body.

Re: Scan93

Fatdog2, I wonder if you start a new thread like "Need 93 TB 3 cable adjustments"

Maybe someone would know the procedure how to set them and relay the info to you. Just a thought.

Re: Scan93

Which cable needs adjustment? I think I've seen a TV cable guide.
