voltage problems??

voltage problems??

I just recently installed and aftermarket amp with aftermarket speakers but kept my stock headunit.. when i turn the a/c and radio on while i'm driving i see the battery gauge dip down to the red area even though its right at the edge I was wondering is their something i can do to help it not get there

details on the amp/speakers would help -- are we talking over 1000 watts?

I would take readings other ways rather than rely on the gauge just to see what exactly you are at.

As far as helping -- could try upgrading the charging system wiring....works for some -- typically though the stock wiring is sufficient up to 1000 watts and should be able to handle at least what your alternator puts out. Other than that, H/O alternator. (your alternator could also just be going bad..)

the amp is a 4 channel 450 watt , and 2 100 watt speakers in the front, 2 100 watt woofers and 2 80 watt rear panel speakers

Do you have same reading from battery gauge with amps/headunit on but at zero volume? Something tells me you have a drain in your system, possibly amp idle current is way too high.

can we have model numbers on everything? why are you running so much off that 4ch anyway? (if I read it correctly....)
