so it would be a bad idea to put some tweets in those holes in the a pillar? i have thought about it for a while...

 

How do you remove the a-pillar??

 

There are a few screws up top of the trim piece. Open your door and you'll see them.

 

I popped of the sail speaker grills and mounted them in there, wired them into the hatch speakers. They sound fine.

so how do those tweeters sound with that placement?

 

Man my car was dirty in those pics.

The placement puts them right at your upper chest/neck level. You'd really be surprised at level they play. You can MAKE them unbelievably loud, but with the right adjustments they blend in great with the door components. My HU allows me to really adjust the levels and frequencies, along with the amp too. An electronic crossover and sub are next for my system so I can get rid of the lowest stuff to the doors!

Overall I was VERY pleased with the upgrade in sound quality over the not-so-bad Bose stock 5-speaker system.

OH - and my best reason for putting them there was because they're completely hidden from the outside with the door shut! No stolen speakers. My HU is the only thing visible from the outside.
