Tweeter location for component speakers

I'm putting a new stereo system in my 94 Camaro, and I'd like some suggestions on placement of my tweeters. I have Infinity Reference 605cs component speakers for the front. I know some people have mounted them on the door, in the little triangle inside from the rear view mirrors, but I'm not sure I want to cut up my interior. I've also heard possibly the pillars(are they deep enough?), or that there is a place in the door along with the mid ranges. Does anyone have pics of the door without the panel on? I'd like to have a plan before I start pulling everything apart. Anybody out there who has been there, done that, -- advise would be greatly appreciated.
I have an Alpine HU, Alpine CD Changer, old Boss AVA 670 150w x 4 (I think it still works) that was in it when I bought it, the component Infinitys (with crossovers) for the front speakers, and because of $$ stock speakers in the back.

Questions:

Where can I mount the tweeters and crossovers, and can I use the stock speakers in the back for now? They sound OK, but the # of watts is a mystery. They only say they are 10 ohms.

I'm totally confused about Amps and Ohms. I've been reading up, but, I am as confused as ever on how to make everything work together.

I'm from the era, that didn't have all of these extra components. I have checked into a professional installation (outrageous) and it's more than I can afford right now. I bought everything but the speakers used.

Is there anyone in the Austin, Texas area that would like to make a little extra cash installing it for me? ( At a reasonable charge)

Any and all advice is appreciated.
Thanks

I have the same component speakers upfront running off a 100W RMS x 2 amp. I have the tweeters mounted on the grill facing towards the middle of the car and the mids are in the stock locations. I previously had a different component set with the tweeters mounted on the triangular trim pieces but I prefer my current setup. The crossovers are mounted under the dash.

I use very little rear fill so for my rear speakers I have the stock front speakers mounted in the back. The stock fronts were 4 ohms while the stock rears were 10 ohms so I used the 4 ohm speakers and ditched the 10 ohm speakers since HUs are designed to run 4 ohm loads and using a higher load will decrease output. They are running of the HU. I have the rears almost completely faded out, for a very small amount of rear fill and they sound fine. If you plan on running a lot of rear fill then you'll have to replace them.

Here's a pic of my tweeter location:

Note: the pic is one that I took when my car was broken into but it shows the tweeter and mid nicely.

Hey thanks,
I was kinda thinking 10 ohms was alot. I'll have to get some different speakers for the rear, my front ones weren't hooked up and when I tried them out and they were toasted. Any specs on some good inexpensive speakers for the rear? Money isn't real abundant at this point, but I can probably pick up some new ones off of Ebay. That's where I got the Infinitys at a decent price.
I've never dealt with amplifiers, do you think this old Boss has what it takes? It says it is a Boss-Lite and is marked, Stable- 2 Ohms. 150wx4. Like I said, I don't understand the Ohms thing with amps. I take it I have to do the equations and come up with what it will handle.
Thanks for your help, I think I'll probably go with a door mount for the tweeters. I might have got in over my head with all of the work and knowledge it's going to take to put this together. But, given time I'll get it. Thanks again.

I too didn't want to cut up my interior to install my tweets. You have 2 options. You can create a "bridge" to mount the tweets in front of the mid, or the black triangle trim pieces are only $15 including shipping from www.speedautomotive.com so you can buy a spare pair to cut up.

I've got pics and instructions on both options at the link in my sig.

PM'ed ya about the tweeter issue. I also have run the infinity reference line components. I really like em'. They are worth every penny. The crossovers should be mounted in the dash. There is a ton of space up under there! I have a TON of stuff under there! Just zip tie them to something sturdy. Then use a coat hanger to fish the speaker wire through that boot thingy and into the door. Lastly, Boss isin't thought of as being the best of quality..... and that's putting in gently.lol 150WX4??? MIGHT actually put out 50Wx4...... if your lucky. But I'm sure it's still more power then the head unit!

One other quick thing..... if you decide to replace to rear speakers, get a simple midrange/midbass. You are trying to prevent high frequencies from being behide the listener. I recommend the Kicker RMB6's. They are $99/pair from www.cbrstereo.com (look under subwoofers... bottom of page)

I know everyone will disagree with me here, but I put my tweeters at the bottom of my A-pillar on my old bird.

I personally am not that concerned with staging, and this provided me with great sound that was up high and not at my knees. It also resolved another problem I was having: my knees would block the factory tweeters (I'm 6'2"). I personally thought that this gave me really clear detailed sound and a nice high soundstage. I am no audiophile however, so my standards aren't super high. Also, each A-pillar was $11 from the dealer to replace.
