installed new Hu and sound is screeching
i just installed the clarion dxz845mc headunit in my car and now when i turn up the music i get like a screech sound. i think something is screwed up it really sounds like ****. can the monsoon amp be doing something wrong with this or what ? thanx
Re: installed new Hu and sound is screeching
Well your first mistake was clarion. Secondly does the screech get louder when you rev your engine? Check all your connections and grounds.
Re: installed new Hu and sound is screeching
Alternator noise will make a whistling or whining noise that goes up and down in pitch as you rev the engine. If it's a nasty screeching noise you're getting you may have a short somewhere. What did you use to connect your Clarion to the POS Monsoon amp?
Re: installed new Hu and sound is screeching
i just wired it up to the conector. it sounded good before i put the hu in. it seems the screech/distortion is from the driver front component speaker. it doesnt change with the rev as far as i can tell
Re: installed new Hu and sound is screeching
Yeah soethig is pinched or has some coating stripped off somewhere. If you wanna take a slightly easyer route pick easy spots along the wire run and hook up a volt meter. That should help you tell where the trouble ares is by elimnation
Re: installed new Hu and sound is screeching
Are those monsoon systems amped from the factory with an external amp?
If that's the case, you can't amplify an amplifier and you're going to blow something soon if you don't either bypass the monsoon amp or get one of those little converters. Also, you'll probably run the risk of ruining the HU as the speakers (at least in my car) were like half an ohm and matched to the stock amp. You'll smoke the amp in the HU when the speakers draw way too much current due to the small resistance.
