is it better to drive around towns and highways in auto mode or highway mode? whats the difference between them and which mode has better range?

Highway mode has better range and sensitivity. However, if you're driving in the city you will pick up every automatic door opener and everything else. You wind up getting really annoyed and start disregarding warnings. My suggestion - unless its a small town you're driving through just change the setting. It takes pushing a button a few times.

 

I just disabled X-band altogether (it's one of the options you can set). Cops only use K and Ka around here anyway. This was I almost never get any false alerts.
