~7yr old Crossfire DB Subs???
~7yr old Crossfire DB Subs???
I got a pair of approximately 7yr old Crossfire DB subs at home and am wondering what kind of power handling they have and if they are good or not? I got them free from my cousin back when I was a sophmore in highschool and have yet to use them. however, i had a box made for them to fit in an old car of mine, but they werent used. Last month I decided to hook em up to the bridged rear channel of my 4 channel Sony amp, which then put out 150 watts to the subs, and they sounded pretty good. However, over the summer im getting a subthump stealth enclosure and want to put an Alpine Type R in there. Should I delay getting the Type R and just put in one of those Crossfire DB's until it blows, or what? Ill be powering the sub with a 500 watt kenwood amp.
Re: ~7yr old Crossfire DB Subs???
I have a set of 10" DB crossfire subs in an box, hardly used them. They thumped pretty good for the short while I used them. I cant remember how much power I put through them at the time. I would love to know a little bit more about them myself.

Well, im trying to decide if its worth it to use one of these subs, or to buy a new Alpine Type R. Ill be getting an amp for dedicated sub duty, and itll prolly be the 500w Kenwood one. So which amp would hit harder and cleaner and quicker in a subthump stealth box?

if you wired the subs to 4 ohms, then you'll probably get a number of about 150 watts out of it. i dont know all the details about your subs and amp so i can't give you an exact number. but if you only want something that will hit so you can here and have a little extra bass, then it should work fine
