Need a Question answered ASAP (radar detector)

I was looking into buying one and was going to get it off ebay.

Now that have a escort 8500 in one of the auctions and a escort 8500 X50.

Are they the same thing or not? The boxes look different.

Examples:

Escort 8500

Escort 8500 X50

I'm pretty sure the X50 is their newest model.

http://www.escortradar.com/x50.htm

Looks like it's the newest one and more advanced than just the normal 8500

yes the x50 is the newest passport radar and is supposed to be more accurate. I love my 8500, so you'll prolly like it too, and really like that x50 if its as much better as they claim it is.

I mounted mine above the rearview mirror on the windshield. I also hard wired it by running wire under the headliner and under the a-pillar down to my fuse panel, so now it comes on when my car does, and i dont have that stupid cord in my way lol
