What if instead of fighting the battle to give us a Camaro on some platform that isn't what they've spent a ton of time and $$ developing a car for, they simply give us the Chevelle as a sister to the GTO and the Buick.....just as it used to be.

No conflicts with the CAW, it would be more expensive and possibly a bigger $$ maker due to platform sharing and would still give them a tie to the musclecar past they need so desperately. It could be optioned at a higher level to justify the cost........there's a lot of good arguements for a Chevelle all the sudden......besides, the SS concept looked a hell of a lot more like a Chevelle than a Camaro.....

I'll tell you, all this shifting around of platforms, fights about the name and supposed "redesigns" has me really worried.....

Isnt this the kind of thing that made GM cars so bland, boring and the same. You could walk in to every GM dealer and by a Chevy. Ebery car was just the same as what the other GM brand had exept trim and a few options. Give Pontiac the GTO. Give Chevy a smaller Camaro. Having Twins for every car you make is just so stupid.

Just make it Caddy and Chevy because thats what it really is.

But our Prince still wants a lean, speedy horse that looks absolutely beautiful.

Then the King points the Prince over to the horse wearing the Crossed Flags of Corvette?

But the Prince doesn't want to make the same mistake as Marie Antionette (was that her? )....when her subjects said...."we don't have bread". And she replied "let them eat cake".

Re: Zeta...Zeta....Zeta.......

In the old kingdom, the princes had a little more say than they do now. These princes had their own little fiefdoms including powertrain development, their own design, engineering and assembly facilities. Our prince was especially powerful. It made the greater kingdom a real force. The king then, may have had the kind of say you indicate insofar as this is what you want, but the other princes need this or that, so let's compromise. The king now has much more control as the little fiefdoms are all but gone with centralized powertrain, design, engineering and assembly handled by the larger kingdom - brand identity and marketing spin have been the most recent princes in town with the clout and have propped up the all-ruling king who now decides priorities for the princes and the order in which princes are handled.

Alas, our prince doesn't really have the power to do what it wants any more. Those days may be gone forever.

Re: Zeta...Zeta....Zeta.......

Would the King let Prince Apple Pie have two horses of similiar size and purpose? Especially since one of the main reasons the King stated for making the Prince give up his horse in the first place was lack of demand of people wanting to ride this style horse. What about the prince's other overweight mule, the Monte Carlo?

I hope my horse is aerodynamic, powerful, and has paddle shifters instead of ears!

And after constant bickering with the king, the prince said: "screw this, I don't need no stinking horse" and went and bought a mustang.

This story sucks....enough with the double talk and hidden meanings.

What ever it is, it better come in red, have ttops, and pack 400hp with a 6spd, lets not forget the handling of a Ferrari.

Interesting opinion.....especially since I've thought for a long time that we'll be getting a Chevelle before the Camaro, and on different platforms or on the same one but modified. People just said n/m to all the numerous hints at the Chevelle we've had going on for a few years now and focused on the Camaro only. (which has alot more difficulties/requirements to meet to get into production than a Chevelle does at this time)

Re: Zeta...Zeta....Zeta.......

The Chevelle rouse is just another red herring. Just like the article I posted up about two years ago saying GM wanted to bring back the Chevelle by 2005. (Search the archives, I'm too lazy. ) It's all part of my conspiracy theory that GM is trying to cover-up the truth about the 2007 Camaro and has been working over time to do that since Guy's article in PHR.

It's going to be a Camaro. It's going to be awesome. And as Scott is always telling us... keep the faith!
