What platform was the SS concept based on and why can't it be shortened into a 2+2 sized RWD design?
It was built on an aluminum spaceframe (chances are it could have been a surplus ev1 chassis-GM wont say). Only a car like Corvette would get this type of platform (alum) today due to the increased cost to build it.

Its only a matter of time before we see more aluminium frames. Proces of steel keep going up and the price of al. keeps going down.

If we ended up getting both a Beta (using your term here Al, it works) and Zeta Chevy coupe, that would be uber sweet. The more talk I hear about this Torana platform, the more I want it for our 5th gen.
