Re: Solstice Sizzles

I believe the LS2 weighs 375lbs dry, so that would sound about right.

Right around 400 lbs., depending on the definition used ("fully dressed", w/ or w/o fluids, etc...).

I think the ecotec was fully dressed at 340lbs.

Sounds right then, because a fully dressed ls2 is around 440-450lbs I believe.

The last thing this car needs is a LS2 or gen III/gen IV. GM has whored the ls2 to every car it will fit in. Its a great motor but I would rather play with a turbo eco in the Sol'/Sky. We already have 2, 2 seaters with the ls2. WE DONT NEED ANOTHER. Again, a 450ish rwhp pump gas modified eco would be cool to have. I think its possible.

"Whored it out"???? Thats an interesting way to think of it. While I dont think that the ls2 absolutely belongs in this car, it's not out of place either. it does not cheapen the car or the engine. If GM can sell more cars by "whoreing out" this engine, I dont think anyone would have a problem with that. As a matter of fact most people here like a V8 in anything we can get it in.

My understanding is it has the 5.3L V8. I suspect its' just an engineering excersise by GM hotrodders.

I can envision the top Solstice in the next few years having a V8. ;-) Just imagine, Pontiac recreating the 21st century version of the Ford Cobra.

I would really love to see GM do this to the Solstice in a few years, because that is exactly what everyone would be reminded of, the old Cobras. However, I really, really, really, really, doubt GM is going to do this.
