Solstice Sizzles
Re: Solstice Sizzles
GM should seriously consider exporting the Solctice/Sky twins to Europe/Japan... if not for volume, then as a showcase to the other automotive nations of what the General has cooked up. Up to now all they get is Opel (eh...), Corvette (it's looked upon as "dirty speed" in Europe) and Caddy which while nice doesn't have that "fun" factor baked in the image.

Probably expensive as hell. But i'm sure that someone who knows what they're doing could do that on their own for less $$.
Re: Solstice Sizzles
In another thread, I commented that the Solstice is masculine in appearance and many others disagreed (which is OK
), noting roundness is symbolic of feminine appeal...
Sorry to once again revive a spent topic but doesn't anybody else believe the Solstice's beautiful design is inspired by the legendary AC Cobra?

Re: Solstice Sizzles
I thought I read the designer was inspired by sports cars of the 40's and 50's mostly in the design.
In person I prefer the Solstice's curves and more tightly wrapped skin. The Sky when I saw it last year looked a little bulky.

Re: Solstice Sizzles
Word is that it's not that an LS2 V8 won't fit. It's that the Kappa chassis and it's components isn't certified for the engine via GM standards.
GM adds a pretty healthy engineering margin in their cars to protect them if someone decides to hop up or abuse their vehicle (that never happens, right?).
The Kappa is covered if someone wants to put superchargers, turbos, or other power adders. However, if someone drops in an engine the car didn't come with, GM isn't anywhere near liable if someone destroys the car with themself along with it.
It's called product liability.
