Shelby Mustang Super Snake.... if the GT500 & GT500KR aren't enough!
A spring is a spring is a spring - assuming, that is, that there are no problems providing a rigid abutment point for the spring, and that the spring is not used to locate the wheel. The Vette suspension does not appear to suffer from either problem. My guess is that the Z06 is at the point where it needs a set of megabuck dampers.
So, are the KR500 and the Super Snake (and whatever the hell comes next month) going to depress the price of the "pedestrian" GT500? I'm hoping so...

the late sn95 mustangs where nice looking and the new ones aren't bad looking either, not what i would go for when i think of performance or handling, the roush mustangs are nice looking too but not major performance cars, same concept, that super snake is a damn nice looking car, im just saying dont hold your hopes up for it to be what its cracked up to be.
its a very nice looking car though, and will do very good for the collectors, just like the gt did and the shelby did aswell.

My God boy............... are you really an actual enthusiast???
I don't know about the rest of the people here, but this tool really makes me embarassed to own a Camaro (a first gen).
I would like to think that he is just stirring the pot. However, his pathetic reasoning, or lack thereof, just doesn't jive with his good spelling, and use of puctuation (in other words it isn't consistant........... well, short of the lack of capitals). Thus, I have to conclude that he is a complex mixture of a tool, and a troll. Both annoying.
That said, tool boy would do good to read up on Mustangs, and not just base his worldly opinion on facts that he fabricates in his own mind.
That said, a 700hp car will be significantly faster than a 500hp version of the same car. Anyone who thinks differently is only fooling themselves.

Please, enlighten me as to your knowledge of Mr. Shelby?
Do YOU plan to be designing and assisting in automotive development after your 3rd heart transplant? Well into into your 80's? Just how many cars have YOU designed, built, raced, and sold to others for racing or street use? What do you know about corporate liability? Better yet, what have you given to children with cancer? How much of your income goes straight to children's charities?
I doubt you know as much as you think you do.
Now, back to the thread...
First of all, the GT500 was DESIGNED to be assembled on a production line - at Auto Alliance - RIGHT BESIDE the V6, and GT Mustangs and the Mazda 6. It takes huge cahunas to do that in a cross-breed assembly line with average assembly staff and high-volume equipment. To add to Guy's comments about the Mustang's accomplishments - will ANY of you PLEASE show me another car that has the power, performance, technology, safety ratings, warranty, and aftermarket stratosphere that the GT500 has, for the MSRP price, and that is built on a plant line that shoves out over 220,000 vehicles a year.
I lay the gauntlet.
Next, Ford dealers are rape artists. No doubt. I despise that they are still getting $60-65k for GT500's. Ford can't really stop it, but it's not their fault - they put the car out the door of their plant at $45k, and that's friggin awesome. GM fans have nothing to brag about either... the first F5's will bring their premiums, and the GTO was hurt terribly by dealer rape as well. IT HAPPENS. This leads me to my next point well...
This new Shelby SS will be available directly from Shelby Automotive. This means that you have the OPTION of bypassing Ford dealers and their rape programs. If you place your order directly from Shelby instead of going through a Ford dealer, you can go to their factory, pick up your car with 1 mile or less on it, meet the man himself, and drive it away. So speculations of dealer rape on this car pushing it over $100k are not really founded. I'm not saying dealers won't order them from Shelby and put them on their lots with a $50k mark-up, but you won't HAVE to buy it from them like the GT500. In this case, the smart shopper can screw the dealer out of their precious windfall.
Next - this car is indeed a concerted effort between Shelby and Ford. But it is the best way to do it for both. Ford can't possibly warrant such a vehicle. Hell, GM almost flipped over warranty issues with the GN and GNX turbos, and that was nowhere near the complexity of a car 20 years newer. Shelby can do whatever they want as long as they get liability coverage and waivers - it becomes buyer beware, sold as-is, where-is, and that allows them to stoke the furnace a good bit.
Guy - I admire your fortitude buddy.
We both know that we don't always see things the same way when subjective issues are at play, but facts are facts and reality is inescapable. Nice job of trying to explain why a 4-seater was chosen for such a niche development project. Maybe some will actually read what you took the time to post - maybe not. Either way, I'd like to add some to it...Do ANY of you not think that Shelby could have ripped a 750hp Ford GT out of the hole? Even the GR1 could be armed with this powertrain if so chosen. If Shelby wanted to make a kill-all performer of road courses and drag strips, I'm SURE he could have gone that way. Hell, he could have said "go" on the Daisy V10 Cobra for that matter, and you guys whining about weight could simply go home after a 2800-lb supercharged-performance V10 hit the street! As it was, the GT had 550hp, and it handed ***** to many of Europe's best costing $200k or more. What could it do with wider tires, further refined suspension (maybe even some titanium in places), and another 200hp or more on tap at the top-end of it's powerband? So why didn't Shelby do it?
HE LOVES MUSTANGS!!!!
EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU on this board that owns a Camaro instead of a Corvette should be able to associate with this ponycar-passion, if you'd just think about it. Underdog. Runt. Sleeper. Over-achiever. Fighter. Get it?
The AC Cobra with a 260 V8 from Ford put Shelby in the winner's circle at the tracks early, but the 65 Shelby GT350 Mustang is the car that made the man famous. It made his name a common word from 1965 to this day. He simply loves it. He has gone full-circle, and expressed his thoughts publicly... he is going to go out of this world with Ford products coming out of his shop, and the Mustang is the apple of his eye. He WANTS to work with this car, plain and simple. There need not be any other reason for his effort than that - it's his time, and his money.
Here's my closing thoughts. I have actually gone to some Ford people and tried to get myself on a list for the KR already. I am not too proud to say that I can't get one of the 1000 (at least not yet). My best multi-millionaire contact who plays with $500k cars says he is not interested in tracking one down for himself or me - it's too much hassle trying to get one from a "blessed" Ford dealer lucky enough to get a lottery ticket. I had just resigned myself to putting feelers out for a used one from a personal owner - not an Ebay deal... when I heard about this one coming out.
Well... I now have a new plan. I'll be back in Cali again in a year or so with a 1-way ticket, and I expect to take a few vacation days to enjoy a LONG drive home.
Parting thought...
What's the difference between Lingenfelter doing a 750hp Camaro and Shelby doing a 750hp Mustang? (and yes, there IS a difference - it's not a trick question.)

So, are the KR500 and the Super Snake (and whatever the hell comes next month) going to depress the price of the "pedestrian" GT500? I'm hoping so...

About all this Carroll Shelby business. I am probably going to catch hell on this board for saying this, but I do think his cars are overrated for what they are. I am not going to dispute what he has helped do for the auto industry, and what he has helped do for racing, particularly for Ford, but the cars of the past that have born the Shelby name are not that appealing to me. I would rather have a Boss 429 anyday over a old GT500. I would rather have a Mach1 with the 428 in it over a GT500 as well.
I certainly wouldn't call him a douche though.
* I just remembered something I believe I read a few years back. Didn't Saleen eclipse Shelby over numbers of "tuned" Mustangs both have made?
I'm not so sure that I am the tool on this site.... Seems to me that you guys may be on the wrong site. The Ford Mustang, being a previous owner of a 65 and a 97 know the cars, I love old school Mustangs, and a fan of the newer SN95's aswell, like i said before they look nice, although they don't perform well, and may never without a lot of mods. So you jackass douchebags can flame, burn or just be plane dumb ****s all you want. It's my opinion and if you don't like it **** off. That mustang looks good and that's about it. Even if it has 700+ hp doesn't mean nothing.
Ok so I was out of line when I called him a douche, I do agree with you that his cars are overated. I too would much rather own a Boss over a GT500 or Mach1. So I do apologize for that comment.
In his day Mr. Shelby did a lot of great and cool things. And I respect him for that.
