Probably everyone who buys this does so because they are collectors and this is an exclusive Mustang with over 600HP. I don't think that the precise performance data will even matter.

I believe it was C&D that remarked that the regular GT was more fun to drive, simply because the GT500 weighs so much more, and the weight is distributed more poorly.

Throw some high adhesion tires on anything an watch the lap times drop. The problem is a 3900lb car is going to handle like a 3900lb car. Nimble would not be a term I would use to describe such a car.

My problem with all this shelby stuff is that its all high end mustang stuff.Nothing has been done for the core GT buyers who want a bit more HP.Were still at 300hp after 3 years(mostly due to no chevy competition).I just found out that '08 brings nothing again (unless Bullitt does, which I doubt). There really should be another GT V8 option.Something around 350-400hp.I guess since its selling so well,Ford see no need to up the power.

Good point, I'm sure these will be hoarded and stored away.

Is this a factual statement, or just talking out of your rear end?

Are you going to provide factual basis or proof, or shall you instead be regulated to nothing more than the automotive equvilent as the blabbering, blathering, village fool.

Or just maybe, perhaps, will you be indeed prove to be a very wise man & back away from that statement without further comment or challenge?

My bet is that with 700some hp and most of the weight over the front of the car, this Mustang will have a hard time putting it's power to the ground.

Probably. Plus, the car is in fact heavy. The current GT500 is about even with a C6 in a straight line, but falls behind when the track has some turns in it, despite its 100 hp advantage. A Z06 runs quite competitively with a Ford GT around a track and in a straight line. So basically this 725 hp Mustang would have to be able to keep up with a Ford GT in order to hang with a Z06 (and that would probably **** off the Ford GT owners ).

It will have 200 more hp than a stock Z06, but also an extra 800 or more lbs. and an inferior chassis, worse weight distribution, etc. 200+ extra horsepower might help it overcome the big weight distribution in a straight line, but with some turns present...

Plus, as has been mentioned, this is sort of a "tuner" Mustang, almost like a Callaway C16 or Lingenfelter-modified Corvette. A 725 hp Mustang might, MIGHT, take a Z06 under certain conditions. But since we are talking some aftermarket work, with a cam and headers, the LS7 can easily make 600+ hp (flywheel). A 725 hp, 3900+ lb. Mustang will not take a 600+ hp, 3130 lb Z06...

I would not worry, at all about weight issues.

This is a Caroll Shelby project guys. Do you really think he would drive something that can't get the rubber to the road and handles terribly?

He helped in the development of the GT500...

I'm not saying any of them will handle terribly, just not up to Corvette levels...

He also did the Shelby Series1 w/ GM. Though I don't know how it handled or performed at all. I don't think I have ever seen a review of it, now that I think about it.

What does the GT500 run? 12.4? 12.2? So this one will be high 11s?

What does the current Z06 do on stock tires? High 11s? Mid 11s?

Yeah, I would even take a regular C6 over that and just bolt on a roots blower and blow the doors off that SSS (Shelby Super Snake)

Or I could just keep my LT1 383.

Carol Shelby is a douche........ Used to be good with cars but he has failed with the gt500 and will fail with this aswell. Looks cool but other than that nothing, the car prolly won't even have IRS.
