I know it may seem hard to believe in this day and age of affordable uber-tech gadgetry flimflamery with turbo 1/2 cylinder this this and 5 valve triple overhead cam that, but some people actually still prefer relatively large displacement front engine rear drive 2 door coupes.
oh yeah, almost forgot (seeing as how some article made mention of 2 door coupe disappearing because of yuppie sensebilities), yuppie sensebilities be damned

* The 5th gen won't be lighter than the 4th gen.
Why? IRS and a body structure that's engineered to handle a godawful amount of power. Hint: what's the most horsepower that GM currently has in a production vehicle.

505 HP!!! Or does the new Z06 not count yet
Oh well, I'd settle for 425.

Nothing sitting in a Chevrolet showroom can have more horsepower than the Corvette. However, the automobile market is a moving target.
TODAY'S top Corvette has 500 or so ponies, but how many horses will the same model have next year? or the following year?
Or more importantly..... the year after that?
500 horses a few years from now may be as common as 400 is today.

one more thing guion.....were you possibly hinting to the new Chevy coupes "performance" model that's gonna debut about 18 months after initial launch???

Didn't read the whole thing so hope I don't repeat somebody.
Weight issue.
The GTOs about 4-500 lbs more then the average fbody right. According to GMHTP the best they could muster out of the 400 hp LS2 goat was a 13.3. These are the guys that got a LS1 f body into the 12s, and a stock LS6 into the high 11s. If anyone could pull decent times its these guys.
Now if the new fcar is going to weigh more then the 4th gen, as was alluded to already in the second page ("Dont hold your breath"), then lets figure around 3700-3800. I'm assuming that "the most power" will probaly be under 450hp at max, probaly 425 or something. Assuming IRS and you have a high 12 second car. Now this isn't BAD, but definently not touching a Cobra or whatever SRT car DC is waiting to drop next.
I know quarter mile isn't everything, but it's going to be kind of depressing if a 1998 Camaro can beat a 2009 Camaro with a few cheap mods.
Now if the cars supercharged for easy power gains
that would kick some ***, and definently keep everybody in check, but that's not going to happen.

No. F-Body weight is in the high 3300 to low 3400 range. I woudl say the GTO has maybe 250lbs on it. The reason guys can get 12s out of stock f-bodies is that the solid axle rear in the f-body is more drag racer friendly than the IRS used in the Goats.
