The new camaro... again
Re: The new camaro... again
well as i am one of the people that is very skeptical about the f-body ever coming back at all. Lets hope this wasnt another person speaking without thinking. Cause if i rememeber correctly didnt lutz say a few months ago in his online blog or something that the f-body was Never coming back?
But i will still be optimistic. and if by some miracle it does come back. I will definately be in line to buy one.

Re: The new camaro... again
F-body is just a vehicle code right? It has nothing to do with the platform it is being built on. Why wouldn't a new Camaro be called an "F-Body"? What else would they call it?
Re: The new camaro... again
yea, at this point the F in the F body, no matter what platform that it comes out on, if it does indeed come back, will be just a letter designation. Nothing more than a historical tie to keep the F-Body in F-bodys.. if that makes any sense. I for one would rather have a camaro with a F as the fourth character in the vin than not.

Pontiac needs a Maxima fighter. G6 is too small. I'm praying with the G8 comment, guion knows something we don't

LeCrosse and LeCerene are both new, and had a substantial amount of money spent on them. That pretty much keeps them in the line up for the rest of the decade. Ditto the Impala. A safe bet is that there will be nothing brought out to detract from those cars that will sit in the same showroom. That would exclude a RWD Impala sized vehicle, or anything in the Buick-Pontiac-GMC showroom that is similar to Buick's 2 new cars. Grand Prix just got a V8 and some tweaking, but is still running with a body that's 3 seasons old already.
Grand Prix just had some tweaks and a V8 but no restyling, so I'd guess it has only 2 more seasons before being replaced (2008-9). Ditto Monte Carlo.
Now, if GM uses a high volume factory, this hypotheical assembly line right off the bat could make 2 sedans and a coupe. Possibly something else.
BTW: "F-BODY" is a structure. "Zeta" is a set of components.
Example: The Holden Commodore, Monaro, and GTO were based on the "Omega" architecture. However, these cars are designated the "V-BODY". The 1st and 2nd gen Camaros were based off of the Chevy Nova, but they both had different "body" designations (Nova was called the "X-body" and of course Camaros & Firebirds were "F-bodies"
In short, the next Camaro and/or it's spinoffs will carry the "F-body" designation using "zeta" or whatever components.

A new Caprice would be perfect for Chevy's lineup as a slightly bigger car than the Impala, with a V8 and RWD offering options that the Impala doesn't have. Back in the 80s the square Caprice was a extremely popular car, the top models offered Cadillac luxuries with a Chevy price. If they follow this formula again and have it in a nice pkg. sucess they will find. I would like to see a RWD sports sedan from Chevy, but I am not sure how it would work out if Impala remains FWD. and they use another name like Caprice for there top RWD sedan. I guess you could have regular Impalas remain FWD, while offering an exclusive RWD Impala SS that doesn't look like the FWD Impalas. Kind of like how the Camry sedan and coupe look totally different even though share the name.
Re: The new camaro... again
I find it interesting that only weeks ago people were saying, we could get a Camaro if things continue, and certain things fall into place, now people are shouting that they've know and been telling us for the last few months that a Camaro is coming.
