1. Scott isn't the head of GM Performance Division.

2. WTF do you think people from Bob Lutz down to lowly me have been trying to say (to the limits allowed) for the past 6-8 months?

It hasn't passed final approval, and thus "hopefully".

Re: The new camaro... again

Ok, juuuuust to clarify. His quote from the video clip was "hopefully in 2 or 3 years we'll be giving you some new Camaros". And a few people jumped on it and said "Yes, he said it, Camaro will be back in 2 or 3 years!". Thats not what he said, he said hopefully it would be. Of course we know from all the hints dropped that it will be coming back, but he was not out in public coming right out and saying it, contrary to some of the posts in this thread, people were mis-quoting him. No one, not even Super Bob, can get away with talking about a 5th gen Camaro in public, not yet anyway. Not trying to get nit picky, just trying to keep him from being misquoted and having possible heat coming down on him.

(a) I hope he knows he was being videotaped.

(b) I hope he doesn't get into trouble for what he said.

(c) If anyone doesn't think the Camaro is coming back now... smack yourself in the head.

Re: The new camaro... again

My question continues to be when. I'm not worried about the "if" or even the what. When....different story.

2008 or 2009 Camaro? Later?

Whenever it happens, it will be followed by a ton of "see, I told you so!" comments from folks that didn't really tell us much of anything (perhaps so that they could say "I told you so" when "so" actually happens).

No personal offense towards anyone.

The best and most honest answer would be yes...somewhere in there.

Also, a rhetorical question (as are all comments I make on this topic ), if you are GM, and are developing a new RWD platform that will have both a coupe and sedan......which one would you push out first??

I'm not even sort of qualified to answer that question. Of course I'd personally prefer the Coupe, but a case could be made for either, IMHO.

You know, normally I'd go ahead and admit that the sedan, your presumed volume leader, needs to come out first........ BUT...... when you have been out of the pony car game for several years, the neighbors have a new pony car that is just eating up sales, and your company needs some good P.R. and image boosting.... I think I'd honestly put the pony car out first.

Yes, I agree. You could say that the 4-door should come first because that would be the volume leader but you could also make a case for the coupe to come out first to "wow" buyers and get some positive "buzz" going about the platform. Then people would say, "that sedan is based off the same platform as the "Panther" and that is pretty cool", and saying that the other way around isn't nearly as positive.

I guess if it was me, I would put the coupe out first..............but that is just me.

OK, gotcha.

A better perspective is probally the phrase: "It's ours to lose".
