Finally got around to reading the whole thread.

#2- GM dealers like to sell cars to people who are upside down, and bury the negative equity using the rebates. Value pricing takes that tool away.
2 very intresting points I hadn't considered.

Nope. Grand Prix has become the "old man" of GM's car lineup. It's been around visually untouched the longest.

Instead of focusing on artificial accounting algorithms to get that magic figure, they should have looked at the last 12-18 months of REAL TRANSACTION figures for every model they sell and pin the MSRP to THAT. On new models, that have no previous sales data (obviously), set the price INLINE with other models that DO have history.
Ties into Branden's point. I haven't checked prices lately, so I wrongly assumed that "Value Pricing" was based on average transaction prices (before the employee discount program).

Residual on my 04 GTO is $21700. There is NO way I'm going to pay that when my $199/mo for 24 month lease is up in July 06. I figured it will be worth about $17000 then. I'm hooked on turbos and was considering an 06 GTO to turbocharge, but when you figure beefing up the IRS rear end and drive shaft, it gets too pricey when you figure in the price of the car also. I want a 550hp daily driver. So the Mustang GT is the front runner if the 4.6L will hold that kind of power.

"Red Toe Tag" is another feeble failure in the making. Return To Greatness is the answer, but GM refuses to listen to the best Buick salesman of all time. Makes you wonder...

Buickman, what you say may very well be true (though I doubt it), but what exactly are WE supposed to do about it? Start a pointless Buickman internet petition? There's nothing we could do to stop the death of ONE car. Think we can stop GM from floundering with warm fuzzy thoughts on cyberspace? Doubtful.

Here's an idea for you: Go sell Return to Greatness to Ford, or better yet, Mitsubishi. Make them the next big thing. If GM doesn't want your great plan, wash your hands of them and make somebody else's day.

You are probably right. Thought of offering to Ford. Problem is I love GM. Afraid Ford might take me up on it. Guess if I was just in it for the money, it would make sense. Instead working on UAW support for Board seat.
