You are wrong.
Find out what an Executive Order is here.
"Executive Orders are controversial because they allow the President to make major decisions, even law, without the consent of Congress. This, of course, runs against the general logic of the Constitution -- that no one should have power to act unilaterally. Nevertheless, Congress often gives the President considerable leeway in implementing and administering federal law and programs. Sometimes, Congress cannot agree exactly how to implement a law or program. In effect, this leaves the decision to the federal agencies involved and the President that stands at their head."

Here's a jolly-good one that the President drafted and signed into law just after we attacked Iraq...
Executive Order 13303
(I suggest STRONGLY that you read it... it begins with "I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, find that the threat of attachment or other judicial process against the Development Fund for Iraq, Iraqi petroleum and petroleum products, and interests therein, and proceeds, obligations, or any financial instruments of any nature whatsoever arising from or related to the sale or marketing thereof, and interests therein, obstructs the orderly reconstruction of Iraq, the restoration and maintenance of peace and security in the country, and the development of political, administrative, and economic institutions in Iraq. This situation constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States and I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.

I hereby order:

Section 1. Unless licensed or otherwise authorized pursuant to this order, any attachment, judgment, decree, lien, execution, garnishment, or other judicial process is prohibited, and shall be deemed null and void, with respect to the following: ..."

It gives immunity to any person or company that is involved in the rebuilding of Iraq, and specifically to the oil production and transport. This means, if you are working on the Iraq project for the US Government and are being paid for this work from the Iraq Rebild Fund, you cannot be investigated, arrested, charged, or in any way held accountable for what is being done. HOW CONVENIENT when you are handing uncontested contracts to Halliburton Oil Co and there is an alleged $460-million in unsubstatiated bills paid that nobody can investigate or bring charges against them for...

Here's a link to the entire list of executive orders he has made law since taking office...
Executive orders by George Bush
Some are downright scary, some are goofy, but they are all law until repealed.

Does NOBODY ever take Political Sciences in high school anymore?
Several agreed with that original post, and nobody contested the comment...
Man, I'm losing more hope every day for this nation...

Re: GM talks dirty about Toyota

Back to the topic of the thread...

As for GM talking smack on Toyota... I think it takes brass.
As said before, GM needs to be careful or it could backfire on them, but they are totally in the right for pointing out that their quality is on the rise and is in fact class-leading in some areas.

To me, the secret to success is to get the message out in a clear yet humble way, and not to look like you are gloating or crowing about it because that type of behavior is what usually gets all the guns aimed at you. Humility is good when you are trying to persuade others about your achievements.

Interesting... I get yelled at to show the numbers by FBodFather and then JasonE even makes a snide comment saying that'll never happen. Next thing you know I bring some numbers out and both of 'em get reeeeal quiet. shhhhh, guys... let's just not say any more and pretend like we never called him out.

Ya might want to quote the guy who used the term "nut hugger" first.

Oh yeah... that wouldn't suit your purpose would it?

I wonder about the accuracy of the recall and reliability statistics anyway. Some items never make it to recall, that should!
And I'll bet all problems don't get recorded. After my last three trips to the Chevy dealer, they never sent customer satisfaction surveys. Every invoice I got, said they would. They knew I wasn't happy, so they chose not to ask my opinion. I'll bet they're selective with allot of things like that.

I had no "purpose" other than to point out my annoyance at the way you constantly get butt hurt about folks expressing their support for ideas/comments on this board.

How about some of you guys go and flirt with each other elsewhere?

There some valid points from many sides, including the ones that people don't agree with. Keep it civil.

I saw your activity light on a couple times since I replied and thought it odd that you hadn't replied.

And yes, I had a 94 Z28 several years ago. I doubt I'll get another Camaro unless the 5th gen is a serious improvement and is not retro (love the SN95 Stangs, hate the new ones, in terms of looks). Definitely love the C6 though - that's on my short list for cars to get when my wife finally gets her CPA and starts making some money.

That makes -zero- sense because the numbers from JD Power supported by statement that GM still had ground to cover to catch up to Toyota in mid-term (and I assume long-term) reliability, and it also showed Lexus as the #1 brand. Yet I still express some hesitation to believe JDs numbers, so what does that tell you? I'm not letting the fact that they agree with me make me a believer. That's exactly the opposite of your claim. Funny, ain't it?

Re: GM talks dirty about Toyota

Dirty??

All GM said was that it would like to see the same type of coverage for their competitors when they mess up. This isn't anything new. Lutz has pleaded for the mags to give their cars fair reviews in the past.

Not funny at all......you make claims and scrounge around to find a supporting survey to substantiate your position and question those who might disagree.....it's more tiring to read your borish claims than it is funny.

Surveys and polls can all have certian biases, but numerous sources and results show trends....

Taken as a whole and by experience alone, I tend to agree with proffesional surveys and Scott while I dismiss anything you say due to your obvious lack of any credibility.
