I got the link off a certain import site, and man are they having a field day with it.

Re: GM talks dirty about Toyota
I just re-read the article and caught this:
"Smith expressed confidence, however, that GM would retain the top spot as far out as 2015..."
So GM is expecting to be overtaken down the road? That's not good.

I simply cannot comprehend why GM would want to start pointing fingers at other automakers over the number of recalls. If there's anything that GM should avoid calling attention to, it's that topic.

Wow... GM ranks well in JD Power and next thing you know they're trash talking Toyota? That's so sad it's almost funny. I mean not only in regard to recalls is that like the cast iron pot calling the aluminum skillet black, but it's particularly bad because GM knows they have been sucking nuts compared to Toyota for the last couple of decades and they as soon as they pull 'even' (arguable), they act like "we're finally here, Toyota sucks, we are the champions, my friend". lol
But this is a neverending race... so GM needs to continue to focus on what's ahead.
GM, as a whole, has still not come close to exceeding Toyota, as a whole, in terms of long term durability and quality. 90 day initial defects or what not, maybe... I dunno... I don't care about my first 90 days nearly as much as how long it takes a car to wear out over the long term.

I'm actually impressed he felt confident about holding the lead until 2015. That's two product cycles away (in the market, at least), and it would be foolish to predict anything out further than that. So he's basically saying that for the foreseeable future he doesn't expect Toyota to overtake GM. I hope that's true.

In other words he's saying it could happen sooner but after 2015 it very well may happen.

Re: GM talks dirty about Toyota
Why would he be telling people they'll still be on top in 2015? What's so special about that year?
I thought the wording stated simply enough that they'd be ahead until ("as far as") 2015. He probably had his fingers crossed when he said it too.

GM is doing just fine in all the polling that matters.....I'm tired of the smoke & mirrors coming from Toyota being taken as gospel....about time GM called them on it.
Re: GM talks dirty about Toyota
I don't care how well Toyota is doing or how many they've sold. People are dumb enough to make POS movies no.1 in the box office, I don't see them thinking any differently towards cars when it "looks" fast and feels comfortable....Let's buy it, even if it is overpriced!!
