Im 21 the only memory I have of Pontiac is the drowned in plastic inside and out cars of the nineties... Im just that opposed to alphanumeric names. Moreso because "G" + "Numeral" is about as flavorful as vaseline on toast.

Infiniti and BMW have already done ground work building an association of basic alpha names with upscale luxury and class. Pontiac riding their coat-tails to enjoy the benefits is a smart move, in my opinion.
How do you know they wont wind up on Mazda's coat-tails? Or Lincolns? None of those lead to any real benefit, IMO.

But hey, I guess we'll see who who was right in a couple of years when the sales numbers settle.[/QUOTE]

Well, while I do feel this is key, and a bad decision, superior product will almost certainly sell better... So I guess you'll have to find me numbers for some comparable brand undergoing a revitalization while using real names...

What value is there in naming a car after the annual meeting of Western leaders- the G8 summit?

GM should leave the alphabet soup to Campbells.
