Hmm....600 HP range for $100,000+ and limited to less than 500 cars.

That's cool, but it seems like 500 is an awfully small amount.

The guy that posts there, Rick from Les Stanford Chevrolet in Dearborn, really seems to be "in the loop" as far as C6 info is concerned. I wonder if my dad knows him.

Whats that? Only 25 more HP than the Z06?!

Fastback fixed roof
7.0 Ltr.
500 HP
500 Ft Lbs Tq.
Some Carbon Fiber Body Panels
Hydro Formed Alum. Frame
Low to mid 60s in price.
Debuts 01-05 in Detroit
Now taking orders.
About what I was expecting.... I was thinking high 400's though.

Some Cabon Fiber Body Panels...I'm intrigued, hopefully its more than just the hood this time though Wonder what a fender bender would cost to repair

Hmm, seems like I was right. The Z06 will be low to mid 60k and have about 500 hp. And as for the Blue Devil, I seriously doubt it will come in right at 100k like some people already seem to think. Limited edition...less than 500. Made with an all-aluminum frame and carbon fiber body panels. With HP in the range of 600 (note: doesn't say 600+ and I think it will probably be more like 575). I wouldn't be surprised if they sold for Ford GT prices (139k to 150k). I just don't think it'll have the same impact for GM as the GT has for Ford.

Why are so many people assuming the C6 Z06 will be "low to mid $60's" or more?

I see no reason that the C6 Z06 pricing will be that far out of skew with the C5 Z06's pricing.

I am predicting mid $50's....

I take it the 7.0L is only a 2v

The base Vette is mid $40K's so I'd estimate the Z06 costing mid $50K's, $60,000 max.

Bet you it'll be a 3 valve per cylinder.

If it is a 3 valve than it sould be putting out plenty more than 500HP. GM is claiming that adding 3v heads to a pushrod engine adds about 10% HP. 7.0L Gen III V8s from Lingenfelter and SLP are already putting out 550HP with 2v, the GMMG 7.0L 2v is 600HP+ on 12.0:1 compression.

Hopefully, GM is not stupid enough to build only 500 of them.

I think GM knows they wouldn't be able to sell more than 500 or so a year.

If it does turn out to be in the 60K range, it will still be a steal. The current Z06 already does more than any car this side of 75K (aka Viper). If the new Z06, which is going to have some much more serious hardware than the current one (the jump from C6 to C6 Z06 will be greater than that from C5 to C5 Z06, even though the base C6 is almost equal to the C5 Z06), it will be fully justified in fetching a 60K price. Why is it OK for Dodge to push 80K on the Viper?

I can already hear the whining from lots of people on the "GM needs to get their act together" bandwagon if the Z06 commands a significant premium. The current one is pretty much at the top of the bang for the buck pile, at least in the supercar realms (one could argue that cars like the SRT-4 offer the most pure bang for the buck, simply because the denominator - bucks - is so low). If the new one creeps up by 8k or so over the current car, while offering 100 more hp and lots of corresponding goodies to make it eat just about anything, 60K is not outrageous at all (at least compared to the competition; to me 60K is crazy for a car period, but I'm not crazy rich). 60K buys you a Navigator or Escalade or FX56; it won't quite get you into a loaded LX470. I don't think having exotic car performance with true racecar potential and durability would be expected to cost less than one of those land barges. The current Z06 basically makes the Ferrari 360 and 911 turbo obsolete (from a performance standpoint), and the new one will wipes its butt with them. For half price or less.

I think they could sell 1000 units easy at $90K-$100K. 600HP+ and 2900lbs. That thing would be a rocket and put the Enzo and Ford GT to shame.

Ford is building 3500 Ford GTs that will be slower, heavier, and have less HP and cost $50,000 more, and the way it is looking now the will sell faster than Ford can build them. The Viper is $84K and they sell 3,000+/- a year.

Ahhhh, no. The number is to keep production low and create exclusivity to make the model special. They will have no problem selling 500. Ford GT what?
